Bucks 2018-19 Pre-Season Presser

Post by IamQuailman »

Good Morning everyone!

Well... that was an off-season. First of all, I would like to take a brief moment to officially announce and introduce our new owner, Lynwood McCarty, who purchased this franchise after our previous owner had a mental breakdown following our sweep of the Pistons in the post-season. Stand up and take a wave!

Image

S-sorry folks, it appears he's a bit distracted at the moment. Anyway, we are fortunate (especially myself) to be here with a new feel and, more importantly, a new look (more on that later).

Mr. McCarty wanted to come in immediately and put his stamp on this franchise, and that stamp did not include the likes of the old guard (Andre Drummond, Kyrie Irving, and Ricky Rubio). First of all, we would like to thank Ricky and especially Kyrie for their times here. They both have brilliant futures ahead of them, and we will cheer for their future successes. Andre wasn't really here long enough for words like that, but we are thankful that he tried his hardest against AD in the playoffs (/sarcasm). As you have seen, the main goal under our new ownership was to start fresh, with Damien McNary being the face of this franchise. The objective was to cash in as best as we could with what the market dictated for us. We were under immense pressure; so if our tactics seemed a bit... off, we apologize. However, where we are now is a good spot.

We've brought in quite a few young players and new faces. Our front court is beyond deep with studs... like John Hagerman, Aubrey Broomfield, Alton Towers, and Charles Tardiff. We brought in some new guards and wings in Elfrid Payton, Andrew Flowers, Lonzo Ball, Arron Magness, and playoff standout Patrick Riordan. Our cabinets are full of assets that could be here for a while or could be gone December 15. When acquiring players this off-season, this was our message: "Show us why you belong here on the court". Although we told Ryan Anderson something different: "Show the league why you should be saved from our impending losing record of a season". As you can see from his pre-season results and being a Top 9 scorer, he's ready to get out.

Any questions?

Is there any player, other than McNary, who you hope to see big things from this season and are really happy to have on your roster? From the sound of things so far, it would seem that everyone is closer to being a package piece than a centerpiece.

We are excited to get as much as possible out of Elfrid Payton. We paid him that much because we feel he could possibly give us Rubio production at half (or almost 3 times less than the price by year 3). His scoring is a work in progress, and we may have to play around with that some.

We are interested in seeing what Hagerman, Broomfield and Tardiff will bring to the table. I think a solid big man rotation is very important in this league, and all three of these bring very different skill sets. It is safe to say all three could be on the team come end of the season, but it's safer to say at least one could be moved before end of season.

Rumor has it that Lonzo Ball misses his same-aged dad so much that he had a bad training camp. However, he was still a scoring force in preseason. Is he locked in as your starting SG?

We are having an open competition for starting minutes, and while he is currently our starting 2 guard... nothing with this team is set in stone (unless you are Damien McNary).

None. Well, actually, that's a lie.. Maybe some. Only that I wish I hadn't agree to a deal before RFA for post-RFA, as he would have been a nice piece to have for RFA negotiations.

While we have a couple longterm pieces here that look good now, it's definitely a Rebuild for the next couple seasons at least.

With your frontcourt already set, how does 1st round selection John Hagerman fit into the puzzle?

Hagermann could get some run off the bench at both the 4 and 5. We like him a lot. That said, it would be nice to feature him in case another team falls in love with his amazing skillset

Realistically, what's the long term core of this team?

McNary, maybe Payton. Rest of the players can play themselves in and out of the equation. Just depends what opportunities present themselves to us... I am more than willing to package a few pieces together for the right move.

You got a lot of flak for the way you publicly handled the Rubio trade. Can you speak to the frustration that lead to your breaking point?

Why did you pay Elfird so much...there's an 18% chance I'm still upset about it.

Most of it was due to pressure coming from new ownership to make changes. I think part of it carried over from the futility and despair feeling of getting decimated by Anthony Davis in the playoffs. Other parts came from failed talks with multiple teams during the early stages of the offseason. All of that led to the culmination and decision to trade Rubio and Irving.

18% is the reason you should be happy!

Would you rather watch Jack and Jill, Paul Blart 2, and Spiderman 3, once per day in succession, or have Adam Sandler and Rob Schneider's disembodied voices constantly telling the same dick joke to you for the rest of your life?
