Good evening ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to Springfield, Massachusetts, the site of the Basketball Hall of Fame.
We are here today to honor two players who embodied excellence in their time in the PBSL. Our first inductee had to wait for his time in this hall, but he has earned his place here with his vision and his unselfishness. From the first time he stepped on a PBSL court, Nick Van Exel looked for his teammates. It's not because he was not a capable scorer; in his prime he neared 20 points consistently. But Nick loved to pass, and he did it well. Seven times he led the league in assists. And purely counting PBSL assists, he is the all time assist leader. He was also a 7 time all star and won All-League first team honors in 2001. He will forever be known as a great teammate and the best passer in PBSL history. Ladies and gentlemen, Nick Van Exel!
Our final inductee tonight has the credentials to match up with any player in PBSL history. He made the All Star team 12 times. 12 All-PBSL selections, 8 of them first team. 6 Defensive teams, 8 of them first. One Defensive Player of the Year. And four MVP trophies. He won a title in his last year and went out on top. He retired top 5 in points scored, top 10 in rebounding, and top 10 in blocks. Tim always embodied personal success, and we proudly induct him into the hall of fame. Tim has insisted on speaking, although that is not our practice here. So please allow Mr. Duncan to accept this honor.
Duncan: I'm the best. Screw everyone who doubted me. This HOF just proves to me what I already know, that no one can touch me. Shawn Kemp ain't got shit on me. Screw him, screw Karl Malone, screw all the teams I played for who didn't give me a title, and screw Nick Van Exel for being inducted the same night as me. Screw you all. Night.
