As I was straightening out the Pistons team bank, I wanted to make sure it was as accurate as possible so I checked to see if all team obligations were paid such as insurance and luxury tax. Luxury tax was fine, but only because the "league office" had to take over and pay the bill. One thing I did notice was that several seasons of training camp insurance were not deducted from the bank, but was given to the Pistons during those years.
If I am remembering right, at least 3 seasons for a total of 70-ish points were not deducted in total by GM runningback at that time. Insurance rules state that the points must be deducted before training camp deadline in order for the insurance to take affect. I haven't gone to any other team's banks, but I seriously wonder what checks we have when granting insurance.
It's sort of unfair for those who do pay for insurance and for the teams that don't pay insurance for their players because they don't have the points to spend. Should we have a check process for this? I don't think any teams are doing this on purpose, but keeping track of our points isn't the most fun aspect of this game and I worry that if the Pistons were able to do this for at least 3 seasons in a row, some teams are forgetting to pay for insurance and screwing the teams that make the hard decisions to insure or not and actually pay.
Thoughts? Or am I being too overly concerned?
