So before I start I am volunteering to perform this task each year as an unpaid job. Just to alleviate any further burdens on the league front office.
What I am proposing is strictly for aesthetics and fun. I can't see any truly negatives to this. We just switched to created players so the names are totally made up already. I am proposing that we allow GMs to change the name of only lottery players at the time of draft selection. Only lotto players because there's gotta be a limit and lotto players are the players that will be around the longest so that's the thought process there.
Here are points of the idea:
1. I'll open a name change thread when the draft starts.
2. If you are the GM of a newly drafted lotto player you will have 24 hours after the draft ends to post an official name change in the name change thread.
3. This is the only time our chance to ever change a players name.
4. All changes are final and can never be changed again.
The names can be changed to anything the GM likes with a few exceptions. The exceptions are:
1. You may NOT change the name to any current OR past PBSL players. You may change to current NBA or college players that aren't in the PBSL file.
Examples:
Micheal Jordan - NO
Karl-Anthony Towns - YES
2. You may not use any explicit names. Be an adult when choosing a name.
Look, this isn't that serious. The current drafts are fake names so why not allow the GM to pick that players name. No harm, no foul. Will only add fun and more interest. I will do the work.

Yeah guess we'd have to put an order on it. We'd probably have multiple ppl want 2nd round Pelican player names.

Like this isn't some elaborate scheme to get a Kyle Kuzma or Zubac on the Cats

How much work do you think this would take? I was gonna suggest all first rounders can be re-named that way pretty much everyone can name their first rounder, but didn't know if that'd be overkill.

Yeah personally that'd be too much imo. I think top 14 is a good line. Also the lotto guys are the ones that make the biggest impact on the league. It will be some work but 14 isn't too bad...30 on the other hand, I don't think I want that many created names. You'll have Doug spending all his points on late firsts just so he can name them.
