Orlando Magic Preseason Presser

Post by coltsguy510 »

After a long season, we enteredt the draft with high hopes. Those hopes were reached when we drafted Mike Miller with the 4th pick in the draft. Miller looks to be part of the core of this team in the future and will be a key player for us this year. He had solid improvement in TC. Along with Miller's improvement, Damon Jones improved tremendously and figures to be a larger part of this organization in the future than we thought prior to TC. We still plan on rebuilding and are excited that we enter the year with so many picks in what looks to be a very deep draft. Any Questions?

Random Reporter: With the rebuilding effort in full swing, has Jerry Stackhouse ever expressed a desire to move on and spend his prime in greener pastures?

Jerrystack is an incredible player and would fit any team in this league. However right now he is and will continue to be a member of the Orlando Magic until further notice.

Generic Wolves Reporter: What would you say the identity of your rebuild is? Your young players, Miller and Jones, appear to be more scoring focused than defense. Are you going to try to find pieces to make an offensive juggernaut, or find defensive players to balance out your squad?

The goal is always to have a balanced team but if, during the draft, a talented offensive player falls into our laps and also happens to be the best player on the board, that is the route we will go. We are in the position to draft BPA so that's what we'll do.

Any plans for the Magic to get a little more aggressive in terms of acquiring talent via trades this season instead of waiting on the draft?

We are always looking to acquire young talent. But with the reluctance in this league to deal out that young talent it is tough to grab these players. If the opportunity comes, we will look to make deals.
