Miami Heat Preseason Presser

Welcome everyone.

Last year we had a few goals:
- Shed cap space
- Build for the future
- Make the playoffs

We were pleasantly surprised that we were able to win the division after a total redo of our starting roster. The pairing of Lebron next to Dragic is a stronger duo than we could have even imagined. In the playoffs, we beat the Bucks in 5 even though we were clearly seen as the underdog. In the second round, we faced off with the Bulls which took us to game 7 the previous year. After a surprising 5 game series, we lost in 5 games to the Toronto Raptors. Although when we get that far, we were overall happy with the season.

Our offseason had two main goals:
- Resign Jonas Valancunias
- Draft best player availables in the draft

In RFA, Jonas Valancunias signed our offer sheet. We know that we are one of two teams listed as reasons for a resim of RFA. We mistakenly sent our offer to the commissioner instead of to the negotiator. We appreciate Wig's willingness to enter our bids. From our understanding, the previous winning bid was similar to our offer, which we would have matched. In the draft, we saw two big guys with potentials. Having played in another SIM league with these types of players that take time to develop, unless you have a top 5 pick then everyone is a 4 year project.

Going into next season, we need to set up some goals:
- Make the playoffs
- Cut some cap
- Acquire future assets in young players or picks

A playoff team for sure. But I don't suspect we are division champs this year.
