Good evening ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to Springfield, Massachusetts, the site of the Basketball Hall of Fame.
We apologize for the delay. It was difficult to get our schedules right with our inductee, who is very busy with his new job as assistant coach of the Dallas Mavericks.
Tonight we gather to celebrate a man who embodies scoring. At his peak, he was perhaps one of the greatest combo forwards we've seen offensively. He never averaged less than 15ppg save for his rookie and final seasons. In between that, he was a walking guaranteed bucket. He was in the MVP conversation several years, led the league in scoring once, and took an 8th seeded Mavericks team to the finals on an amazing postseason run that will live in infamy, despite falling short of a title. He went on to win 8 all star nods and was selected as a top 5 player on two separate occasions. When looking back on the decade of the 2000s, there were several great players, but few defined scoring prowess like Antawn Jamison. To commemorate that fact, he is being inducted into the Hall of Fame tonight. Congratulations, Antawn!
Jamison: Thank you for this wonderful moment. I'd like to thank the organizations of Dallas, New Orleans, Portland, and VanMemphis for allowing my career to flourish. I'd like to thank my family for supporting me every step of the way. I want to thank Darth Vegito for seeing the potential in me and drafting me. And I want to thank all of the fans who rooted for me and voted me into so many All Star teams. They say that it takes a village to raise a man, and it is especially true in my case. Thank you all for raising me into the person and player I became. I will treasure this night forever.
Thank you and good night.
