Winner/Losers - RFA Resim

Post by Inner_GI »

I'm here to recap the first stage of RFA. Because of one GM who can't even pick a city for his team to play in, there was a resim because of an illegal bid. Who benefited the most from that re-sim? Did it hurt any teams?

Winners

New Orleans Pelicans - Boy did the pelicans luck out. Originally the 76ers thought they had Tobias Harris for $80M over 4 years, and that would have put the Pelicans in a very weird situation. Do you may near max money for another PF after you traded for Griffin and maxed Monroe the year before? Who knows, what would have happened, but the Pelicans got a huge break with the re-sim. Tobias Harris signed with the Grizzlies for $62.1M. Easy Decision.

Milwaukee Bucks - Another team that got huge breaks because of the resim. The Bucks were on the hook for 2 max contracts for Kyrie and Enes. Faried was signed for $65.8M to the Houston Rockets. So the Bucks had $254,426,628 of contracts out to accept or decline. After the resim, Kanter got ~$1M off his total salary, and Faried took a cheaper deal from Indiana for $43M. The Bucks saved $44M with the resim if they decide to accept all three.

Indiana Pacers - Iman Shumpert went from a $52M deal from the Grizzlies to a $48.07M with the Rockets.

Losers

Brooklyn Nets - The Nets originally signed Jonas Valanciunas, Tristan Thompson, and Kemba Walker. The resim cost the Nets Jonas and Tristan signings, but the real kicker is the Tristan deal. The Nets signed Tristan for $30M for 4 years, but the resim has Tristan on the Rockets for $27M and 3 years. Bummer

76ers - It's clear the 76ers wanted Tobias Harris, and at that price, they probably had him. The resim cost the 76ers even a chance to get Tobias for another year. One will never know how that would have turned out. :cry:

The League - Second resim in 3 season. Welp

All Changes

Here are all the changes from the resim.

Jonas Valanciunas - $58,650,000.00 - 4 - Nets --> $58,000,000.00 - 4 - Grizzlies

Kyrie Irving - $94,284,314.00 - 4 - Grizzlies --> $94,284,314.00 - 4 - Kings
