What's this? I thought you guys would have given up on this by now. Obviously the party here in Atlanta has been going on all off-season. Still no parade, though. But it's opening night and definitely time to get back to work.
We had an offseason that was both eventful and uneventful. Eventful in that many of our pieces were up for new contracts this past offseason. Uneventful in that we were able to come to what we feel were mutually agreeable terms with Jeff Adrien, Rudy Gay, Nate Robinson, and Marcus Landry. The band, so to speak, is as back together as we could make it with Manu and Timmy marching off into retirement.
Expectations, obviously, are high. We won a title last season and we have pretty much the same cast of characters this year. We know how our pieces fit together and we're ready to defend our title. That said, the East has gotten a lot stronger this offseason, and frankly, it would have been nice to have a little more internal growth. While "staying the same" is good when you have a proven formula, it seems like in this league, if you stay the same, you're losing ground.
So we hope to have another injury-free season. We expect to compete for a title. We know the window for this team is closing rapidly thanks to the tax man. At some point we may have to make moves driven totally by money. This season - barring injury - is not that season.
Our rotation is likely to be pretty much the same as last year, though we'll have some churn early in the season as we allocate the minutes that went to Manu and Duncan last season. I expect excellence from this team, but I'm not blind - I expect excellence from a lot of other teams in the Central as well and what worked to win the division last year may not work again this year.
So, in summary, everybody's back, let's try to go get another ring. Questions?

Honestly, I felt he didn't step up to the spotlight the way I would have hoped.
