Cuts during UFA

Post by IamQuailman »

I think there needs to be an official ruling on how to handle players cut during UFA.

Why? Players cut inbetween rounds may not be available in nodes for GMs who submit bids via node (see the slew of bulls bigs cut and signed and andre roberson).

DEFINITIONS:
DURING UFA - time after RFA completion and before UFA Round 3 Bid deadline

Proposed options:
-no cuts allowed during UFA
-cuts allowed during UFA

If cuts allowed:
-players unavailable for bidding until Free For Fall FA
-players unavailable until next round of UFA (i.e. Player A is cut after RFA complete, hes available for round 2 bidding and forward; player b is cut after round 1 sim, he is available for round 3 sim. Player cut after round 2, available only for FFA)

Of what? People getting cut and signed? Look at the players signed during Round 1 this offseason (reggie evans, andre roberson, etc). They were signed in round 2. People with node bidding could not make offers to those players cut after round 1 since nodes were updated. People who pm could throw them on the list and sign.

I like this suggestion but I signed Powe even though I submitted via FTP by sending a supplemental PM.

Agreed. I was thinking the same thing and even though I submit via PM, I assumed those players the Bulls cut would not be available until free for all. Clarification is needed.

People with nodes can send a list for just these guys as well. Just another option to think about ..

Same, and i think thats why we just need that official rule, whatever it may be. I think this came up before with conroy in a different thread... just never got addressed.

Sending a PM in addition to using the node kind of defeats the purpose of the node, in my opinion. I say you just delay bids on recently cut players 1 round. If a player is cut after round 1, they will be available in round 3. The exception would be cuts in round 3. All players should be available to the FFA.

Or just don't put in bids for guys you don't want and no cuts until after r3, lots of options

I understand that logic, but at the same time, i disagree. I think we all have been in the situation where we be happy with any 1 of the 3 of bids submitted, but all three signed. If we had a day by day sim, we could pull bids as a need is filled (and im not asking for that). But since we sim in chunks, i think some of that flexibility should be allowed.

Meh it's min players , I don't really think it's a big problem nor a big risk but once we flesh it out I'll just vote one way.. good suggestion !

Yea but if it eats into your cap space, then that could be a problem. That's the only big issue I see with not allowing cuts.
