San Antonio Spurs 2010-11 Preseason Presser

Post by Eazy P »

Good morning and welcome to the San Antonio Spurs Preseason Press Conference. The organization is thrilled that you guys are here in attendance. First off we would like to thank the fans Again for supporting this spurs team last season. Without you guys having our back we wouldn't have made it as far as we did. We were thrilled with how far we made it last season . One Redick Game winner away from our 2nd finals appearance. The guys were bummed about that missed opportunity and are more determined to get to the finals this time around. Last year may have ended on a heartbreaking note but this team is still young and has a bright future. Even though we parted ways with some of our players we still have high character guys in here who love the game. The Guys worked hard this past Training camp and we are satisfied with what the results were. I think these guys are ready for this season to start and maybe this time they will have what it takes to close out games down the stretch. It will take hard work and dedication and attention to detail. We will continue to try and put guys in position to maximize what they do best. I am excited about another season of basketball guys. With that said we are glad that you guys are here again.

If there are questions feel free to ask?

GWR: You have to be considered the favorite in the Midwest. How important was re-signing Luis Scola to your attempt to repeat as division champions?

Great Question

Bringing Scola back was our main focus the off season. We know what he brought to the table as far as rebounding and inside scoring. We knew if we want to make it far we needed he services. As far as midwest favorite I don't think our team are favs. You got the 3 headed monster in Minny and a Mavs team the may surprise people this year. It would be nice to win Another division title but the title we really want is the league Championship but winning the division would probably get us on step closer to that goal.

How do you plan on using Glen Davis with his incredible size and quickness?

You've had good success revitalizing the careers of "traditional" big men like Okafor and Jordan Hill responded well to your team's staff as well. Do you think they can do the same for a non-traditional big like Ryan Anderson?

Right Now he's is slated to start at the SF position for me but that is subject to change. We will find a way to get him in the game. A guy his size with athleticsism and quickness is rare. He's almost 300 lbs and is quicker than a lot of big men out there so maybe we would have to experiment with him. I can see him playing the 3-5 positions TBH. Big Baby told us in the locker room after our game 7 loss that he was gonna bust his behind in the off season so he can get on the floor and help contribute to the team. He felt like he will be able to do than now after the camp he's had. We are all proud of his Hard work and dedication.

Yes I think we can help make him a better player. He knows he has to put in the work to get to where know he can be. He wants to be a elite big but I told him to work at getting to that point. Set goals and never be satisfied. It took Okafor a few years to get the point where he's at in his career. Hill and now Big Baby are doing the same. Don't forget about JaVale too even tho he's not here anymore. Got him Started on the right path. Ryan had a positive camp and we are looking forward to him improving on that next time around. We plan on making Ryan a key contributor on the team.

At what point do you start truly feeling bad for your SIM players, and put aside your selfishness. At what point do you care about your players feelings more than your own. At what point do you come to the realization...the same realization as your players have come to. That they will only be successful on another team. Possibly any other team as long as it's not in Texas that is.

Well I'll try to answer this the best I can.

This organization is built off of being unselfish. We aren't a selfish organization. When players come here we work with them to make them a better player. Idk know why anyone would think we are a selfish organization. Our Cohesion speaks for itself.

Rumors have it that Jordan Hill plans on kneeling during the national anthem. Are you worried about any fan backlash?

Haven't heard anything about him planing to kneel for the national anthem but if he does it's his right and I have no issue with it. I am sure there will be a few that would oppose it but he's a good kid and he has a good reputation with the fans. The fans love him and I think if he decides to kneel wouldn't be a big issue.

Let's get another opinion in here. Ladies and gentlemen, former champion Tom Gugliotta.

Gugliotta: I think it's disrespectful to the flag, to the military, and to this country. I am flabbergasted that people think there is a racial problem in America. In fact, if anything, the whites are the ones being oppressed. After all, no one respected me in the PBSL just because I was white. And then I became an all star and champion despite all of the disadvantages I had to overcome. So if Jordan Hill decides to do this blasphemous protest, I hope every sponsor drops him and I hope people show him how to truly love this great country of ours. A-frickin-men.

It's Rumor from what we all Know. It could be a rumor to try and tarnish his good reputation. The guy has been through enough. Losing his mother to breast cancer at age 3 is a lot to deal with even at his age now. He's out here being a great citizen giving back to the community and all people want to talk about is a rumor that isn't even fact. Let's talk about the positive stuff he does under the radar. Stuff he do that isn't shown on TV because he don't want the attention.

We will not answer any more questions about a rumor.
