Rookie Training Tweak

Post by Xist2Inspire »

So this idea just came to me: Right now we have rookie mini-trainings for those who average 30+ mpg. But unless the rookie's very good or is given the green light to play a major role from the jump, chances are that he won't get those kind of minutes. This tends to (but not always) benefit the top talents, while leaving the 2nd-tier guys (29-15 mpg, which is more realistic for a decent rookie) out in the cold.

What I thought up was a tiered rookie mini-training model that still rewards the big-time guys, but doesn't force teams to play a 2nd-tier guy unreasonable minutes to get a bonus training.

30+ mpg = 4 points spread out between 2 different categories (ex: 2 in JPS, 2 in ORB)
29-20 mpg = 3 points
19-15 mpg = 2 points

This continues to reward the lucky few to average 30+ mpg a game by giving them a mini-training that's closer to a real one. It also rewards the rookies who played major minutes, but weren't full-fledged starter material just yet. As for the 19-15 mpg reward, that would encourage teams with middling players to give them a shot as role players during the season, and a bonus if they can pull it off. Currently, there's really no reason to give a young guy a shot over a proven vet. This would change that up a bit.

I ran up against this, too.

I was thinking there needs to be some kind of minute total or games played percentage or something (percentage to account for injury).

Only tweak I'd make is allow 2+2 or 3+1 for top category.

This would work well with the stash, by the way.
There's no "I" in team, but you can find "Eat me" if you push it too far.
