Hot damn. Glad I slipped my way out of the tax last season so that I'm only a 1st-timer this season, but still...

What if you are over cap but under tax threshold does that count as a repeater year?

I wouldnt think that would count as repeater, since you aren't penalized for that amount.

Reminder - your salary cap level at the trade deadline (Monday at 5 pm Central) is the minimum tax you can pay so all cuts must be posted by then if you want to cut players to shave salary.

If your total team salary increases after the trade deadline (e.g., you have to sign a veteran minimum player) it may go up, but will not go down even if you later cut salary. If you cut a player first, then sign another player of equal or lesser salary, your tax obligation does not rise as your total team salary did not increase.

PROJECTED TAX TOTALS AS OF THE ALL-STAR BREAK:

Bucks ($462,342) - Under apron, 0 points
Celtics ($519,787) - Under apron, 0 points
Magic ($1,074,762) - 4 points
Bulls ($1,383,004) - 6 points
Supersonics ($2,144,546) - 3 year repeater, 13 points
Clippers ($4,044,898) - 2 year repeater, 12 points
Mavericks ($4,898,877) - 10 points
Trailblazers ($5,098,800) - 2 year repeater, 15 points
Jazz ($5,183,933) - 4+ year repeater, 31 points
Nets ($6,586,687) - 13 points
Wizards ($9,046,361) - 19 points
Warriors ($9,286,767) - 4+ year repeater - 55 points
Rockets ($9,671,724) - 2 year repeater - 32 points
Spurs ($12,936,745) - 2 year repeater - 42 points
Hawks ($15,488,453) - 4+ year repeater - 102 points
Raptors ($17,164,977) - 4+ year repeater - 112 points
Cavaliers ($19,288,205) - 2 year repeater - 73 points
Lakers ($19,635,947) - 2 year repeater - 73 points

Plenty of cap space if someone needs to unload.

Since I probably won't be able to pay this now anyway, does the Tax Man prefer installments or a lump sum?

Or what about like a payment plan special? With like no interest for a season or two?

You'll be ok if they do media points for last season.

Oh, wait, no you won't, but that's still out there.
