According to multiple sources on both coasts, Houston is trying to trade what used to be Chris Webber for anything and coming up empty. One rival GM in the Midwest is considering appealing to the League. "They have two players worth anything, and both are injured going into this loaded draft. It looks, sounds, and smells like tanking but on another level that is dirty. I'm not saying they hurt Webb on purpose, but if I was the Union, I'd subpoena everybody yesterday. Something dirty is going around in Houston, and it's just not the whores anymore."
The League declined comment but an unnamed official indicated the recent tanking advisory from the Commissioner is unrelated to the accusations against the Rockets. The Union declined comment, as is typical in legal and criminal matters.

After the Jazz early struggles this season, they suprisingly listed newly acquired Keith Van Horn on the trade block. Rumor around the league is that KVH is expensive; very expensive - top 10 player expensive. Some GMs thinks that is unreasonable, but in this league someone may take the bait. This promises to be an interesting trade deadline story next week.

Word out of Cleveland is that the franchise is considering a move away from Michael Redd to focus on the late bloomer, Jerome Allen. Allen was just signed a few weeks ago, but the busted ass system in Cleveland suits the 29 year old point guard. His play for the Cavs has rated a 124.4 PER with a true shooting percentage of 2. The franchise is scrambling, but one rival GM is not concerned. "Anything Cleveland gets worth a damn ends up in a Knicks jersey anyway." With the new direction Cleveland has taken, it's impossible to tell how they will ruin this unfolding opportunity.

GM Snuglife is nearing the end of his tenure as the Knicks GM according to sources. His career 60-230 W/L record speaks for itself and the fans in New York are growing restless with his aloof management style. I'm told if his team doesn't make a run to end the season, Snug's career as a GM may be over.

Gilbert Arenas close to being moved for a young big from the Eastern Conference. Sources tell me Kings trying to get greedy and grab another young talented player too for a lesser talent which is why the deal is on hold.

Lamar Odom is quickly becoming one of the most attractive young stars in the league, tantalizing the league with 15-10-5 stat line. If he can get his scoring more efficient, he may be a top 10 most coveted player in the league.

As the Hawks continue their domination of the league, a few GM's suggest the team is vulnerable due to lack of depth. "Wig can take advantage of bad GM's to build a team. Wig can take advantage of bad GM's to maintain a team. That is how he makes his living. He is great at that, but not being a GM. The team is in crisis, but he getting his welfare." The Hawks got 6 points of tax paid by the Rockets in a trade of minimum contract players this weekend following a massive tax savings provided by Orlando earlier in the season. Another GM: "People say only a few teams know how build a contender. They are wrong. Most teams do know how, but they do it other cities."

Unnamed Sources say the league will be expanding this coming offseason. The team will join the Pacific division of the Western Conference and play in Los Angeles. The rumored team name is the Clippers, a reference to the barbershops in Compton. The owners are looking at office space on Crenshaw this week.

The Warriors are celebrating. The feel nearly assured to make the Finals as they sit in the coveted 8th seed, even if just by a half game. "This is how the Mavericks did it. They traded their best player away for no reason, got the 8th seed, then made the Finals." The Warriors will trade Jalen Rose to Atlanta, with 10 points, to complete the ritual. The Warriors moved Kemp prior to the season because of the tax, but have not improved their tax bill or record as a result.

Philadelphia is actively shopping Erick Dampier. Though he is expiring and the team has cap room, they will send a second round pick and add salary to be rid of his talent, something Philadelphia greatly misjudged when trading for him, too.

Sources deep inside El Segundo say the Lakers will not be involved in any deadline deals. "The GM does not have the authority to make the moves. Even if he did, he would not know which to make. The franchise is rudderless." The management situation in Los Angeles is approaching a crisis despite the team's record. Ownership is not happy with standing pat while the Sonics acquired Kemp, and league is worried that ownership itself has abandoned the team. The Lakers may be taken over by the Commissioner, and the expansion Clippers are being placed there to distract the fans and sponsors should the worst come to pass.

Multiple sources are confirming that Shaquille O'Neal is available. In the ongoing saga of nice guy finishing last, Portland has realized that they just can not compete with Seattle. Though the Blazers performed well so far against the title favorite, the margin of victory does not indicate future success.
The Raptors are the favorites to land the big man. If they do, the Hawks will officially be an afterthought while the Sonics will have to bring their A game to win the title. An unnamed source in Toronto: "Of course we're ok with second place. We gave up on the Finals before the season. We are happy to let Atlanta have the titles, they're the better team. It doesn't matter to us if Seattle beats us down instead. We're second rate, and we know it."

A source in the league office has confirmed that multiple deals between the Suns and Heat have been voided by the league. Prior to the management change in Phoenix, the league installed anti-collusion rules to prevent two franchises from operating as one. These franchises have been trying to do this very thing. While many team sources refused comment, one source did give a quote. "It is fine when Dallas helps Atlanta, but now Atlanta doesn't want any new GM's cleaning house. Wig is mad because we figured out out to bottle what he stumbled into, and he is using his influence to stop teams from doing it again. We may just quit. C'mon, it's only Stoudamire, Johnson, and Cato for Smith. It's not even on that level."

A few sources have cited growing frustration from GMs about negotiation tactics. "It's like these people are trying to build a little league softball team," one GM said. "They offer you deals and then take them away when you agree, or propose things without making sure the salaries match. And you wonder why so many franchises struggle to get off the ground." When asked for further details, the GM replied with no further comment.

Complaints have been filed by multiple league front offices against the management of some team front offices. "We extend legitimate inquiries and offers to teams, but sometimes you flat out get no response. It's gotten to a point that even a simple "piss off" would suffice," one front office associate vented.

Roll the ball out, punch the clock, and hope some teams stop farming talent to their competitors. Some people, bruh." There are no rules against this strategy, but the League may exercise emergency powers to restore competitive balance when the eyes of the world are on its courts, including imposing minute restrictions.

Upon investigation of the flub of the offseason, in the Grizzlies not ensuring they're tax bill was paid, hearing that it was due the yearly switch of operations between Vancouver and Memphis and that deadlines were confused due to time zone changes in that they believed there was more time to pay bill.
As a result, they now lose matching rights on forward Shawn Marion. However, they have stated publicly that they will not change course on what they're offer was to Marion, a 4 year max. When broached on the possibility of him leaving in UFA, the GM assured me that plans were already in place to begin trading talent to various teams for assets, including the Rockets, Spurs, Knicks, Pistons, and Hawks.

When asked what it would cost to acquire Vince Carter, the Grizzlies GM responded with his trademark ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Is Marion getting the 5 year max even after the GM denied it for 3 days? I guess we will find out soon.
