I think we're a very solid playoff team, but we're probably one superstar away from being a legitimate championship contender.
The biggest issue is our timeline. This roster is built to win now, but I don't think it's quite good enough to win a title this season. The upside is that we're in a strong position going forward. We have several significant contracts coming off the books, which should make us major players in next year's free agency. Our goal this season is to win as many games as possible, establish ourselves as a competitive destination, and put ourselves in position to attract a star when the off season arrives.
That said, I'm open to just about anything.
If you're headed toward a rebuild and have a superstar you're willing to move because your playoff window has closed, I'd love to talk. On the other hand, if you're a contender looking to add veteran talent and are willing to part with younger players or future assets, I'm interested in those conversations too.
The Lakers are still trying to recover from one of the biggest injustices in league history—the collusion and corruption that kept Clyde Drexler from wearing purple and gold. If you need a refresher, the receipts are here:

Current Roster
C – Joe Barry Carroll
Still producing at a level that justifies his contract. A reliable 20-point-per-game scorer who can anchor the offense.
PF – Dennis Rodman
Has hit his current blue and is an absolute rebounding machine. He's ready to take another step and should be one of the league's elite defensive forwards.
SF – Detlef Schrempf
Moving to small forward should unlock even more of his offensive game. I expect him to become a major scoring threat while continuing to provide his versatile all-around play.
SG – Xavier McDaniel
Finally healthy and ready to remind everyone what he can do. A physical scorer who should start moving the needle on offense.
PG – Rod Strickland
The only player I'm truly committed to long term. He's the foundation of the franchise and the one piece I'm planning to build around moving forward.
6th Man – Mike Sanders
Provides valuable depth, defensive versatility, and should help keep the rotation competitive throughout the season.
7th Man – Craig Hodges
A dependable player who gives the second unit quality minutes whenever he's called upon.
Trade Block
The bottom line is that everyone is available for the right deal. I'm not married to one direction yet. If you have a player who can make this team a true contender, let's talk. If you're looking for proven veterans and are willing to offer young prospects or future assets, I'm interested in that as well.
