New York Knicks - 1990 Preseason Press Conference

Post by NY_Magic_Garrett »

Hey there everyone,

Thank you for being here. I know this is much anticipated as we here in the new front office has decided to forgo media obligations over the past few seasons as we focus on the task at hand. Evaluation and rebuilding this historic franchise.

We can feel that in an alternate reality that this franchise is winning championships and setting the city on fire as they should. Could you imagine if the Knicks won a championship? The whole world would watch. Anyway..that is what we are here to do.

We mentioned in the past that it would be a long rebuild and take some time to fix the mess The Big Boss left. He blew the Buck deal and now he and that era is history. We have made some moves and the dust has settled, we are happy to discuss the new direction. The rebuild to our foundation is off to a great start and we have some legendary vets shepherding us through this process. We moved some great players to greener pastures last offseason in exchange for some draft assets that we are excited about. We think the next crop of players is very talented and we are ready to bring youth into this program. We started that by drafting Mr.Ceballos with the 2nd pick recently. A suprise to some, but his athleticism is unmistakable and the potential is something we are excited to explore with such a young prospect. That being said, we are expecting big things from Dan Majerle this year on the floor and in the locker room. Incredible training camp out of the kid and this is his team this year. Again, very happy with how the foundation is being set here. We have surrounded this young talent with some of the best vets we can find. We could not be happier to welcome in Larry Bird to play some minutes in the garden during the twighlight of a great career. Jack Sikma and Bill Cartwright having a farewell tour in blue and orange is special and our truest honor is allowing the NPSBL Knicks legend Johnny Moore to play some of his final minutes for the team he led for 4 great seasons.

So another season of rebuilding and reminiscing here in the big apple. We will be giving a lot of minutes to our young guys to evaluate how to use them successfully. You can expect a opening day 5 of Bill Cart, Derrick McKey, Cedric BALLos, Thunder Dan, and Johnny Moore. Bird, Tony, and Lester will be heavy contributors off the bench

We look forward to the evaluation process this year and continuing to build a team the fans deserve.

Any questions?

You seem to have a little bit of cap space available. Do you think you'll be entertaining offers to add some talent? If so, can you check your Discord DMs?!

Picks Emmington, SLOE Gazette,

Are you worried that by just coasting through these past few seasons that your players may not fully buy into your plan to get back to relevancy, or even a championship caliber team?

Steve Duin, the Oregonian:

Other than spite, what fueled your interest and contract offer to Lester Conner?

Sir, you do have some good points about my cap space, and yes we will be evaluating ways to use that space to improve our team this this year and will be prompt in all communications that are faxed over to my office.

But I may be out of touch here in the 90s now but I dont know what a discord or a DM is and i can only assume its some DeMonic organization that I dont want to be a part of so please leave me out of it and return to Milwaukee immediately

I think there is a healthy skeptism in the building about this approach after Buck snubbed us. But that is why we are showing our commitment to our young players by giving them more playing time to showcase themseleve. More than they would see elsewhere I am sure. So we trust the process and build. The right people will stay

This organization made no secret about its love for Lester in his prime. We never made a deal work with Portland and his prime may have passed but he still has enough in the tank to be a contributer. We also brought him as a great back up to Johnny Moore, who I just have a sneaking feeling may miss some time. I shouldn't be saying this but his Plantar Fasciitis has been acting up coming out of camp. So we may see a lot of Lester here. its good to see him finally get some minutes in the garden regardless.

Now everything I said fueled about 5% of my offer to Lester. Spite was the other 95..
