The lights are dim. Reporters are murmuring as they wait patiently for the conference to start. A door opens. Everyone stops talking to see who is walking in
"Whoops sorry, thought this room was empty" says the janitor as he backs away slowly
Reporters go back to murmuring. Impatiently patiently waiting. The lights cut on! Everyone looks up. BigDaddyD bursts through the doors with a smile on his face.
Welcome in everyone to the Supersonics Presser!! Yes I know, we didn't bring home any hardware this season but there is a lot to be proud of. We started off not great but not bad. We were 16-16 at one point, then we made a trade to acquire Clyde and later on got Moses and finished with 54 wins. KJ keeps looking like the PG we knew he could be. We finally broke through and got our first playoff series victory! It was a huge relief to finally break through. We also had our first 10 game win streak. I was very proud of the way this team played last season and I really think we are set up for more success moving forward.
This offseason didn't start off how we thought it would but we feel like we're in a better spot than we were last season. We didn't have a draft pick but we also didn't feel like we really missed out on anybody. We did try to get into this draft but didn't find any deals that made sense for us. Then Free Agency happened and we struck out there as well. We were really hoping to at least get Moses back in here because he definitely still has a lot left in the tank. So it definitely was a slow start to the offseason for us. But then we traded for Ruland who we feel like can easily slide in to where Moses was and not miss a beat. Then training camp came around and we are even more excited for this season. All of our young players put in a lot of hard work and we can easily see they are more prepared for this season. Perdue and Chapman are so close to being full time starters but having them come off the bench will be huge for this team. KJ bounced back and is ready for the spotlight. Clyde may actually be the best player in the league now and we can't wait to see him lead this team this season. And kiki is still an elite scorer and Pinckney is as consistent as they come. This team is going to be 8 players deep who all can contribute in a big way. We also had a great preseason going 5-1 while finishing scoring almost 130pts/game. Yes, we know it’s only preseason but it’s always a good feeling to get these wins. We should be able to take this momentum into the regular season
We absolutely believe this team is a playoff team and are looking to build off last season's success. We are gonna do everything we can to make it past round 2 this season. I see no reason why this team shouldn't be better than last season. And I think this team is going to be competitive for many seasons to come. We're young at every position and where we having older vets playing for us now, Kiki and Ruland, we have guys just about ready to take over
I will now open it up to everyone for questions. Also, please help yourself to some chicky chicky parm parm. We're happy to provide some food for yall again.
Nick Melon; Charlotte Observer: How well do you think you matchup against the rest of the division? Any weaknesses you could forsee coming out of training camp and the preseason that you think may need to be addressed come the regular season?

I think we’re a tough matchup for any team in this division. Obviously anything can happen but we definitely feel like we have a chance to actually win the division this season. The trailblazers and Timberwolves are gonna be tough and we know the lakers, suns, and warriors don’t like to take days off. But I doubt anybody would look at us and say we don’t stand a chance against any team in this division. As far as weaknesses, turnovers is the answer. It was a problem last season and it’s shown to already be a problem this preseason. If we can stop giving our opponents so many extra possessions, then we can start putting our names in the hat for actual championship contenders

Clyde looks like he's primed for a epic season. Do you see him being a MVP frontrunner this season?
Clyde absolutely has all the tools to prove he's the best player in the league this season and then some. We would love to see him win the MVP award but our philosophy has always been to play as a team. We want wins, Clyde wants wins. If that means he wins MVP, then that's just an added bonus. But he knows this is a team sport and the one goal we all have in mind is to bring a championship trophy to Seattle.

Or are you already in win now mode?
How big of a window do you think you have?
I think we are right on the cusp of win now. I think this team is great, hopefully better than last year’s team, but we know we need a little bit more from our guys to really call ourselves contenders. And I wouldn’t be surprised if you ask me this same question next offseason that I’m answering it with “we are absolutely in win now mode”. As far as our window, I think it’s wide open. We probably have at least 4-5 seasons before we see Clyde really start to decline and be then, our young guys now should all be right in the middle of their primes and ready to take over

Chet Youbetcha, Dimmadome News: What makes your team so different that Clyde decided to start playing winning basketball?
Sometimes a change of scenery is all you need. He has really become a leader for this locker room. He doesn't have a weakness in his game and that helps us out on both sides of the ball. He's clearly the main reason why we see this team as one who can compete with the best.

Who made the chicky chicky parm parm? My compliments to the chef!
He averaged 20ppg last season for us and this preseason he was at 23ppg so it’s very possible. But ultimately we want wins. We’d like our offense to run through Clyde but if someone else has to step up when he has an off night then thats what we’re gonna ask of our players.
And my wife made the chicky chicky parm parm. She makes the best and if anybody wants any in the future, give me a call and we can work something out
After losing Moses in Free Agency, you moved quickly to grab Jeff Ruland in a trade to replace him. What do you see in Ruland that makes you think he will be able to fill the enormous shoes Moses left upon his departure?

Honestly, once we missed out on Moses and other FAs, we were in a spot where we had to decide to try and find somebody or just kinda take the season easily and come back next season. But then Ruland became available and we felt we couldn’t pass it up. We really didn’t need him to be as good as Moses but hoped he would be comparable to him. This team runs through Clyde and KJ, with Kiki still being a great scorer. As long as Ruland helps us get some more rebounds, he’ll be doing his part for us
