Rockets Post-Trade Press Conference

Post by 78# »

Hello everyone.

Today we have just made a trade with the San Diego clippers involving Purvis Short and Reggie Lewis. In return we receive Rolando Blackmon and Rod Higgins. Trey negotiations with the clippers starting right before the start of the regular season. However we had to wait 60 days in order to trade Mr. Short. This trade was made on our end to facilitate strengthening of our roster to complement Patrick Ewing and the rest of our core. We feel that this trade will enable us to compete with the upper echelon teams in the league. Though we have an excellent start at 16–5, we feel that we are still a few pieces away from competing at the top. This is the main reason why we made the trade. For example in our last SIM, we went 6-1, but were thoroughly blown out by the San Antonio Spurs at home. It was not really a surprise to us knowing that we has been able to be the teams we should beat, but we have been okay at best against the better teams in the sleep. However we now feel that we are in a better position to compete. Obviously our 2 main guys are Patrick Ewing and Larry "Legend " Bird with strong supporting cast and Chuck Person, Vern Fleming, Hank McDowell, and Vern Frank Johnson. We hate to see a young star in Reggie Lewis go, but we also feel that it is in Reggie's long-term interest to get traded because I have a bad feeling on his long-term health playing next to Larry Bird. Right away we expect Higgins and Blackmon to start on the wings, moving Fleming back to his natural position at PG with Ewing and Bird in the frontcourt. We are every excited for this trade, and though it will take some time for the team to gel, we believe we are in contention to compete at the top.

Questions are now allowed.

Thank you for allowing me to ask this very important question: Will you remember you have a team in 2 sims?

Depends how the next two sims go. Let's say if these go south quickly, don't be surprised if we "prepare" for next season.

OBJECTIVE: 348 words (includes your responses to questions): 1 point (250-499 words)
SUBJECTIVE: This is a fun idea for an article that encourages some back-and-forth. It's very specific and a little self-serving since it's about your team, but I would love to see this become a habit after trades - a very quick, "here's why I did what I did and how i think it will affect my team). I'm going to give it 2 subjective points - one because I'd like to see this become a habit and another because you did answer one question - in the future, I won't award similar articles a point because they won't be new, and I probably won't award points on a 1-for-1 basis with questions, but I think this is a good trend to start.
TOTAL: 3 points for @78#
Had there been "real" questions instead of snark questions, the questioners would probably have gotten a subjective point, too. But there weren't, so... *sigh* ... I award the questioners no points and may God have mercy on your souls.
