Name one team that should make a trade, but won't.
Why do they need the trade?
Who should they be targeting?
What should they be willing to offer to get the piece(s) they need?

Rules: 1 point if you give thoughtful answers, which I will award after the timer ends for responses. The timer ends for responses at the moment the corresponding week's Sim is run.

Note: Use approximately 5 sentences as your bare minimum for 1 point. If you write 3 long, complex sentences, you'll still get a point. If you write 5, 3 word sentences, you will not get a point. Don't @ me.

Due: Deadline for Sim 3

Cavs should have traded Paxson and Moncrief eons ago, but now they're old and washed and have little trade value. So even if the Cavs do move those uncs, they're not going to get what they could have. Their careers are officially wasted.

But Clyde Drexler's career is not! I think the Nuggs caught Bill Cartwright at the right time for a sweetheart deal of 15pts to help bail the Nets out of some deep tax trouble, but Drexler is their prized piece, and he's on a different timeline. In fact, after Clyde, their next youngest win now piece is 28yr old Darnell Valentine. Clyde has been purple/purple for at least a season now, I think, at 25yrs old, but he's still not playing the high caliber ball I think jedihero expected with those high potentials. He's really good now, sure, but a lot of his current ratings sit below his potential bands. And, with his current athleticism? It's rough seeing him only take 13 shots a game, avg'ing 20ppg.

I think Denver needs to move all the uncs, or Denver could consider the unthinkable and move Drexler. He'll get a girnormous haul from any GM, and he's not going to lose a ton of productivity now as the Nuggs sit below .500.
Somehow I manage.

Dallas Mavericks

Why do they need the trade?
This build is not a contender. Bill Laimbeer and Brad Davis are past their prime and their values are declining with every sim.

Who should they be targeting?
Assets to build around Bowie

What should they be willing to offer to get the piece(s) they need?
Draft picks and/or Spud Webb or Johnny Dawkins

The Jazz need to make a move. They have Kurt Rambis 2.0 in Rodman and with those guys, Schayes, Thorpe, and McKey have an embarrassment of riches in the front court. Danny Ainge is FINALLY producing but has just one contract year left after this one. Now is the season for the Jazz to try to sell high and get a superstar guard… before they are trying to move expiring contracts of players that used to be good but are clearly in decline and they are hoping people will ignore their production this year and value them where their production was last year instead of anticipating what their production will be next year.

To me, it's the Rockets. 78 is not a high trading team. The trades come few and far between.

Why do they need the trade?
They have a really good team of mixed timeline players. With Ewing being so good at a young age, they could try to compete now. With Bird being still good at a higher age, they could pivot and look to the future.

Who should they be targeting?
I think they should be targetting win now players. Larry Bird's age would mean less assets in return.

What should they be willing to offer to get the piece(s) they need?
Ewing is not a piece to even consider moving. Reggie Lewis and Chuck Person are good assets. Also, 78 can look to deal points and picks, since Ewing should make them a playoff team for the foreseeable future.

The Lakers have to do SOMETHING. They can't waste a year of Magic, so they have to re-tool or they have to sell Magic for something. But I don't think they'll find a match...

Their record is middling, their core is 30, 30, 28, and 28 years old, if you're not winning with a core of that age, you gotta figure something out.

They should either be targeting a team like the Kings who have the kids and picks to make it work (as well as a certain penchant for taking big swings), or a team like the Knicks who have the aging vets to fill out their core and take another run.

Obviously either Magic and/or Pressey in scenario 1, and whatever scraps they can scrape up to take King and/or Moses.
6 Rings. That's it. That's the tweet.

I think the Clippers need to make some trades but fear their asking prices might be a bit high. At least from my talks with them.

Why do they need the trade?
This team is just not built to win now nor in the future. They need to sell of higgins, blackmon, and bryant while they still can. They don't have enough assets to make a big splash trade to bring someone in to help bolster this team, especially with a 1-13 start. They really need to focus on getting younger before it's too late.

Who should they be targeting?
Draft picks and young players who can develop into stars. Only problem is that the teams that can trade for their players likely don't want to get rid of their young stars so the Clippers probably need to stock up on draft picks and points

What should they be willing to offer to get the piece(s) they need?
The three players I mentioned earlier. Higgins and Blackman should be able to land at least 1 1st round pick while bryant can get some points. And who knows, maybe they can trade for a young player y/g type player and develop them .

I Love that a ton of teams have been mentioned, and I definitely agree with every mention, so I'll turn my sights on the Suns.
Kavarga has a great core over there with Stockton, Malone, and Daugherty, but you know what they were not missing? - Mark Jackson!!
I get the whole take the best player available approach with their pick, but you only do that with the intention of turning the player into an equal value player at the position you need to fill.
They should move Jackson for Higgins, or Ron Harper, or some other wing to round out their starting five.

76ers. They have already shown that they want to win now, trading away their best prospect to the spurs for two win now guys.

Why do they need the trade?
Digi needs to build the squad to be unbeatable with no DC input we. Plus like I said, he is all in,9 so be all in. Especially with him being barely above .500 right now.

Who should they be targeting?
They should look to target to flip a guard for a defensive minded guard. They are having the same problems the Spurs had with no defense. A guy like Danny Young.

What should they be willing to offer to get the piece(s) they need?
If we’re talking what would happen, Quail would wind up getting Dumars, and two of Digi’s 1st round picks and 15 points.
