Not even close. Cavs vs Celtics. So much bad blood between both teams. Many years of hate. Look, it's not a secret. Everyone knows jlmarines is the big brother that AB is so jealous. jlmarines was a jock in High School and team captain who was popular with the cheerleaders. AB, well he was a lonely nerd. jlmarines is a winner. AB's only success in life is a few good seasons running the Celtics. AB has been dreaming of finally beating jlmarines. Once again AB will lose again. Cavs will win 4-3.

I agree it’s the series of the round, but because it will be fun to watch because it will be a massacre. JLM, the active manager that he is, made the playoffs and that’s great but the gloves are coming off now and I expect a gentleman’s sweep of our series Boston 4 - 1 Cleveland.

I Love these match-ups for competition and entertainment purposes!

I'll start with the least excitement and because both GM's got in here before me.
Congratulations to @jlmarines for getting back to the playoffs.
I think these teams are decently matched with Hakeem being the big difference maker.
Neither team is deeply talented and I don't think the Cleveland backcourt is better than their Boston counterpart, but they will be the only chance at pulling off the upset.
Boston 4-1

Next I'll say that the Detroit and New Jersey series would be more exciting if Eddie Johnson was available.
I know the Nets are a deep and talented team, and they have done some good things since adding Buck Williams, but the Detroit team really took a step up by adding Larry Nance.
They have been consistent and impressive top to bottom.
In a similar fashion, the Nets would need Fat Lever to dominate the series to have a chance, but he doesn't score enough to keep up.
Pistons 4-2

The Blazers - Jazz would hands down be my most exciting match-up were it not for some injuries in Utah.
Wayne Cooper and Rodman are both reserve big men, but very solid bench players.
And still, I don't know if the Blazers have the front-court players to make depth an issue.
I will say that I think these GM's are amongst the best at getting desired results from team strategy.
These rosters are well assembled and I can't wait to see how they compete.
I'm going to pick the Blazers, but I won't be surprised by an upset
Portland 4-2

And the most exciting first round match-up is out west between the Warriors and the Mavs.
The Warriors surprised me by shipping Lister to LA, but might have opened the right opportunity for Calvin Natt to go off.
Ruland is underrated in my opinion, and Bagley is developing nicely, but Tom Chambers is likely going to be the key.
And by that, I mean he will have to outplay Laimbeer because I expect Bowie to be the biggest factor in the matchup.
This Mavs team is loaded with wiley veterans though who play consistently and don't offer weak links.
If Walter Davis and Marques can match or neutralize Natt it could be a short series.
Easier said than done though.
I'm going Mavs in 7

I really like the Nets/Pistons matchup in Round 1. The Nets have the talent to pull off the upset but the Pistons defensive strengths will make it a challenge. The Nets will have to find a way to exploit their perimeter advantage and find ways to get open 3s in the series. If they can stretch the Pistons defense thin, I think they have a shot but if this becomes a physical, low-scoring affair then the Pistons will take this series. It will be a nice matchup of strength vs strength here and am looking forward to seeing this play out.

I'm most interested to watch the Warriors/Mavericks matchup in Round 1, because I think both of these teams are ripe for change - whichever team's veterans can't get it done are likely to be on the trade block as the team looks to rebuild, and so I think it has the most potential to impact the off-season. Most other teams seem pretty happy with their cores or their cores are young, so if they flame out there is the argument to wait and let things get better. With these two teams, one of them is going to be dissatisified with the results of the series and without the promise of "give them time to grow together" is likely to try to make some big swings.

I'm looking to the Charlie-on-Charlie crime series of Celtics v Cavaliers. I expect the Celtics to cakewalk it to a sweep. They have the edge in just about every positional match-up and then some. This should not be close. TO BE HONEST.....THIS is why @AngryBanana lobbied for JLM so much... just so he could finagle this matchup to guarantee a successful season for the Celtics by saying they could advance to the 2nd round of the playoffs... NICE TRY BUB; WE'RE ONTO YOU!

I'm most excited for the Mavericks vs Warriors matchup. Both teams ended the season on a winning streak so it's gonna be fun to see which team can use that momentum to take down the other. I'm also interested to see how the Mavericks handle the postseason after not having been there in a while. They seem to have been a team that sort of just coasted through each season but maybe they were just waiting for the right time to strike and this could be it for them. And the warriors have been flirting with a rebuild for a couple of seasons now so I gotta imagine this may be the final straw for them if they don't win it all then they try to trade away some core pieces to go young again. All in all, I do see the warriors experience helping them get through the first round but I don't think the Mavs go down without a fight. 4-2 Warriors.
