Detroit Pistons 1986 Preseason Presser

Post by tbone963 »

Good afternoon everyone and thanks for coming.

After careful evaluation, we have made the difficult decision to make a few changes in personnel. I have the utmost respect and admiration for Alex English and Darrell Griffith, and I'm sincerely appreciative of their contributions to the Pistons' organization and the Detroit community. We wish them and their families all the best in the future.

As stated before, we intend to prioritize winning here and that means making the right decisions for our franchise. This is a tough business and these are difficult decisions. My expectation is to be a winning team that competes for championships, and I remain steadfast in our commitment to building a championship-caliber organization for our players, partners, and above all, our fans.

While we've addressed most of our issues from last year and feel like this roster can compete, we're still always open to improvement.

Thank you. I'll now take any questions.

How confident are you in Cummings' ability to be a full-time starting 3 after mainly playing the 4 throughout his career?

What KOCC team would you say your Pistons team resembles.

Tough, but good question. I think we have the speed of Bushwhackers, the strength of Bad Habits, the defense and strategy of Fuzz. But I'm gonna say this season we're gonna put all that together and be champions like the Maulers.

As long as we don't have disappointments in the playoffs like the Pirates, it'll be a good season.

Do you think your team has the juice to unseat the Bucks, especially with seeing McHale out for a sim or 2?

I think so. The Bucks are obviously built well, but everyone has a weakness. There's also been rumors that some of their players may be on the move.

Picks Emmington, SLOE Gazette,

While you’re prioritizing winning, you don’t have much cap space this to make many moves. Do you think this is the team you have to go the distance with or do you see someone as being able to move to try and bring in a better piece?

While I do see this team going far, we're open to move Richardson to a team that needs a solid starter or bench guard for a piece that can complement our build. Points are scarce but we also have draft picks to move around to help close a deal.
