Business is Open on Capitol Hill

Post by Mike Lowry »

Welcome back to our nation's capitol.
Around here we like orderly conduct and effective leadership, and we're not into making excuses for failed projects.
This offseason there was a lot of hoopla around the trades that we made and some of the alleged prohibitions that were involved.
I'm glad reason won out and we were absolved of any violation of the NPBSL fair trade act.
In said moves, which were completely above ground and ethical standards, we moved our leadership out and changed direction.
All the love and respect for Buck and Larry along with John Lucas and the run those guys made while they were here!
I have great admiration for that core and was honored to lead those guys into their primes.
Hope they continue to kick ass in their new homes.
In return we brought back Darrel Griffith who was a huge part of our finals run a couple seasons ago, and Bill Cartwright who helped the Blazers slide past us in those same finals.
Our thinking is pretty clear, Buck and Larry get buckets, but Darrell and Bill are defensive stalwarts.
So this season we'll be putting in work in the trenches.
Looking to be among the leaders on the defensive side and see where we land from there.
Really happy to see AC Green and Ennis Whatley hit the gym hard and take big steps.
We drafted those guys knowing they had huge potential, and they certainly proved us right.
We know we have real depth.
Our second unit has some real punch and nice balance.
Starters will be:

Cartwright
Green
Kelser
Griffith
Cooper

You're not one to shy away from making moves to get the team where you want it. However you've made great draft selections in Green and Whatley. Do you consider these guys your core to build around (including Floyd)? With Griffith back, do you see your team heading towards becoming more of a 3pt centric threat?

It is this GM's opinion that you brought back Sleepy Floyd on quite the sweetheart contract. Congrats on that. However, he's 26 years old and likely declining by the end of the deal with lots of room to grow still in his PG skills. Are you going to train him up, or what's the plan there, especially with Whatley's surprise tC?
Somehow I manage.

I don't know what the next phase of my build will look like.
Took a tough injury to AC that will put us in deep water for a stretch.
Just might sell off at day 60.
I do see an opportunity to get the 3 ball going though.

My opinion is that having a wealth of reliable PG's is always a welcome luxury, but I don't want to invest too early.
Think I need to build more before tipping the scales all in.
