Again, there is not much of an argument here, Magic Johnson is still, far and away the Most Valuable Player in this league.
I gave LTS some credit for finally putting a decent cast around him, and instantly they are the favorites to win it all, even though nobody was expected to challenge the Bucks this year.
Didn't take too much, but now we will see him live up to his greatness.

I gotta give at least a little love to Kevin McHale here. Yes, Magic gets more assists, BUT Kevin:

1. Led the league in scoring at 34.1 ppg (3.9 better than Magic), 57% FG% (comparable to Magic's 59%) AND was named DPOY
2. Was 6th in rebounding, 9.8 rpg (1.1 better than Magic)
3. Was 4th in blocks, 3.2 bpg (Magic had 2.3 spg, which is more Magic's skill set)
4. Posted a 34.8 PER (Magic: 33.5), 112.5 OEFF (comparable to Magic's 114.1) and 94 DEFF (Magic: 101.6)

So McHale is the best offensive weapon in the league by leading it in scoring AND the best defensive weapon in the league (winning DPOY)... how is he not MVP?

I would like to nominate Patrick Ewing, because he is a rookie center that overachieved in his 1st season. Since we have precedent that the league favors that over actual TOTAL PACKAGE, Ewing should be a shoe-in!
