This is the kind of question where all the teams with lottery picks are going to be deflecting, hoping that "their guy" falls to them if they don't win the lottery. Fortunately, I have pick #23, so you're not going to get deflection from me.
As to who's the best player, I think the answer is simple... it's Patrick Ewing. I know Chris Mullin shows up with Purple potential, but as I've said before, I really don't care about three-point shooting ratings at this stage of the league because teams just aren't taking them (the 76ers led the league with 1.8 threes made this season) and if I ignore Mullin's three-point shooting, Ewing just seems better.
The guy who has both drawn my interest and whom I think is most unique? It's Joe Dumars... because I've never seen a 0 DRB rating outside of a red player... is he that allergic to rebounds that he can't even get one to fall into his lap? I think he's going to be a really weird player... good scorer, almost point guard-like handles and passing, incredible perimeter D potential... and offers absolutely nothing on the glass, no post defense whatsoever, and no shot-blocking. A lot of our SGs still have post games at this juncture so I worry if a player that is 100% perimeter and 0% interior can survive.
John Battle should be available when I pick at #23. His 1 DRB rating makes him a Joe Dumars-lite, right?
