What are your thoughts about your first sim?
Is it what you expected?
If you were surprised, was it pleasant or unpleasant?
Have your plans or intentions changed yet?

Rules: 1 point if you give thoughtful answers, which I will award after the timer ends for responses. The timer ends for responses at the moment the corresponding week's Sim is run.

Note: Use approximately 5 sentences as your bare minimum for 1 point. If you write 3 long, complex sentences, you'll still get a point. If you write 5, 3 word sentences, you will not get a point. Don't @ me.

Due: Due by the deadline for sim 2

I am very happy with my team so far. We lost two games, which if multiplied out per sim will give us the same record as last season. I do hope to improve on my record of last season, but we will see when the season develops. I'm more focused on the individual outcomes. Our two losses were to the Mavs and the Bucks. The Mavs started a big at shooting guard, which just goes against every other team in a Sim. I'm disappointed in our game against the Bucks. We need to be closer to that team in games, or we have no chance this season.

As far as players, Calvin Natt and Purvis Short are scoring well. LaSalle and Tree are rebounding and getting blocks as expected. I wanted Maurice to be the passer and stealer on the team, but LaSalle has over a steal a game. Our players are hitting expectations prior to the season statistically.

I have no ideas for changes, especially not significant. I have two back up point guards, so I can definitely look to move one of them for depth at SF/C. That's the plan at this point.

I’ll take this time to speak about the league. It was interesting. Lakers played well, but we have some thing interesting brewing in the East. Could this year be different in that we have a more competitive east? It looks like only two teams are tanking and the rest all appear to be cunning for the playoffs.
Mike Lowry wrote: Is it what you expected?
For the Celtics, yeah. I didn’t expect us to win. We have a good core to build on but the roster overall isn’t there yet. So, good to see we’re competitive at least, keeping most games close.
Mike Lowry wrote: If you were surprised, was it pleasant or unpleasant?
I was only surprised at how close the games were as previously mentioned. While I have the worst record I may not end with the worst given how bad some other teams played as well.

The most surprising thing was how efficient Hakeem is coming out the box and may well get ROY considerations given MJ’s team is so stacked with scorers.

No changes here. I’m still in rebuild.

Disappointing, but not unexpected... it seems like most years we start slowly. I do think we played at a slight disadvantage due to injuries being off as one of our strengths is depth. But any way you slice it, being 4 games behind the Lakers after a single sim is an unpleasant surprise. I have taken a look at potential roster tweaks I think can help the team reach what I feel is its potential, but I'm trying to remember "small sample size" and not overreact... so I guess long-term plans and intentions haven't changed but short-term the methods of achieving those intentions may be getting some small tweaks.

After playing 7 out of 10 on the road, I'm not shattered by posting a 6-4 record, but a couple of the losses made my eye twitch.
Losing by a point at the Bucks was respectable. Losing to the same squad in the same building by 13 just 5 days later does not inspire the kind of growth I'm looking for.
Also the 10 point loss to the Blazers at home bothers me more than the blowout in Seattle, but that's a terrible loss.
These results kind of wake me up to being a good but not great team.
I will look to make some moves with the personnel and the strategy to catch up to the big boys.
My unpleasant result came in TC when Chambers took a shit on himself.
Had he stepped forward as far as he stepped back I think we would be very dangerous, but I knew we were looking at a window opening in the 87 season and I expect him to bounce back in a special way the same as Buck did this year.
My intention was to compete on the highest level, and so far that has not changed.

Overall it was a good sim. I am disappointed the Spurs dropped 50 on me in the 1Q of their blowout win and was not pleased the Warriors beat me at home but it was still a good sim. I thought this team would have a solid defensive identity and for the most part we were able to impose our style on a number of teams. I am especially proud that @jlmarines Cavs got demolished and held to only 72 points. The Cavs are a good team and if we can continue to play that style most nights I really like our chances this season. I think our Jack Sikma at SG experiment is still a work in progress. He held his own for the most part but there were some nights he got smoked by uber athletic guards so I'll have to adjust accordingly to make sure he wont be exposed as a defensive liability more times than not.

Yeah, that's about what I expected a Moses-less Warriors to look like. We got some key victories, though, against the Mavs on the road and we went 3-1 against the Nuggets.

We need an expansion, btw. 4 games against one team in one sim is ridiculous.

Anyway, I knew Robert Parish would still play elite, All Star caliber basketball, and he did. James Bailey ane Kenny Carr looked fantastic with more big man minutes opened up. And yet, even without Moses, it's still a big man's basketball game in Golden State. Darrell Griffith played like shit, so the DG-at-SF experiment failed, but maybe he'll bounce back next sim at SG. Hopefully John Drew doesn't foul out in 18 minutes on average back at SG like he did in the preseason.

Kelvin Ransey had a quiet TC bump that kept him g/g but his avg number of assists went up without dishing it to Moses Malone, so that's pretty cool, too. I thought he might pose more of a scoring threat than he has thus far but we'll see how that goes.
Somehow I manage.

My thoughts on my 1st sim is that it was good. TBH I did not know what to expect with this sim and still don't know what to expect moving forward lol. I need to figure out a way to maximize each player's ability to impact the game at a high level. Been going same for so long, I forgot how to put in a actual meaningful DC lol. I think I will make a few changes and play around with the depth chart. Hoping to figure things out soon tho.

With alot of moving parts for my team this off-season, I was really not sure what to expect outstide of McHale doing McHale things. That is the only thing I knew would be something to not worry about. But I was really curious to see how the team would respond to having a new point guard, new shooting guard, and new center. Nimphius is doing a great job at holding down the fort and filling the void left behind after Alton Lister's departure. So that was a nice suprise. Lewis Lloyd has shown flashes of being a starting-calibur two guard whenever given the opportunity over the last 2-3 seasons, and so far he's living up to the hype we've had for him. His emergence made Michael Cooper a luxury, not a necessity. Alvin Robertson is still learning the ropes, and I think will get better with time. Also, another surprise is us leading the league in reboundign despite losing Lister. Terry Tyler has really stepped up his already incredible play. He may be the most underrated player in the league in terms of EVERYTHING he does to help make this team gel. Coming out of sim one originally I thought I needed to shore up my big man rotation, but now, I'm not so sure!

Thoughts for the New York Knicks are pretty mum at the moment. No reason to panic as I think getting the game plan right with a pretty new roster out of the gate is a gamble. I did expect more out of a few positions within the game plan I did roll out, but all trial and error for the first few sims. Will need to find a groove quickly, but I think this roster has what it takes to take a back end playoff spot and make a run at the moment. Will certainly be looking to make some moves and improve the roster after day 60.

I was pleasantly surprised by my team. I thought I had a solid playoff team, and I knew we were much more well balanced after the trades in the off season, but an 11-0 start was very unexpected. This start will probably mean that Larry Smith will stay on the team. The change i migh make after this start is to go deep into the tax. So instead of trying to move Larry Smith for a mid level pick to get under the tax, I think I be looking for a win now end of their career player. If he doesn't move that is fine too.

What are your thoughts about your first sim? Shitty
Is it what you expected? NO
If you were surprised, was it pleasant or unpleasant? Unpleasant
Have your plans or intentions changed yet? No, not yet.

I definitely thought I'd have a better point differential after Sim 1. I did make a major change to my DC and gameplan that I wasn't sure would work and I don't think it did. So I'm changing it back and hoping to have better results and increase that point diff after Sim 2. I did mix up my whole team so I sure my Cohesion is shit, so it may take a little time. But I'm not worried at all....yet.

It's about in line with my expectations, yeah. I did think that McDowell would rebound better, but other than that, I'm not surprised to see that we're not a winning team.

I'd say that Lamp averaging 25 was a pleasant surprise. He's not very efficient, and the points have to come from somewhere, but I didn't expect anyone to prove capable of scoring that much right away. I expected my leading scorer to top out at around 15-18 ppg. Lamp proving to be a scorer means I have at least one person on my team worth paying special attention to this season.

Not at all. The only thing that I'm considering noe is investing in the Ehlectric Lamp Orchestra during ASG training, as opposed to hoarding my points to use later.
