S5 1985 Cavs Preseason Presser

Post by jlmarines »

Welcome to the Cavs Preseason Presser. We are pleased to welcome the league's favorite GM.

GM jlmarines: Last season we lost in the 2nd round in the playoffs. Disappointed way to end the season. I think our weakness was our depth chart. This year we focused on our bench players. Speed kills. That's our DNA. We want fast players that have fearless style and willing to put their soul on the line.

GM jlmarines: We are excited to trade for SG/PG Ray Williams. SG Williams brings leadership and initiate contact in order to make plays. We are also pleased to sign veteran leader SF Julius Erving. SF Erving has great defensive upside with his long arms and great ability to move laterally, and score points. SF Erving is also a freak athlete ready to throw blows at anyone.

GM jlmarines: We are was excited to sign young dawgs that are not afraid to fight for rebounds. We signed free agent C Wallace Bryant and PF Joe Cooper. C Bryant and PF Cooper are hustlers who play with determination, grittiness, and willingness to sacrifice their bodies. Bryant and Cooper will provide immediate depth for our leader C Rick Mahorn. C Mahorn is ready to to fight and die for the Cavs.

GM jlmarines: Of course, let's not forget our future hall-of-famers SF/SG Jim Paxson and SG Sidney Moncrief. Both, SF Paxson and SG Moncrief are ready to lead the Cavs again. Both, had great training camps. SF Paxson is locked in on the ball, willing to go get it, and there’s not a whole lot anybody can do about it. SG Moncrief is ready to destroy anyone in front of him and sent them back to the G-League.

GM jlmarines: Overall, we signed bench players that have athletic abilities and the tools to finish plays and defend their position. The Cavs are ready to compete with anyone.

GM jlmarines: Here's are starting 5 for the current moment and subject to change:

C: Rick Mahorn
PF: Julius Erving
SF: Jim Paxson
SG: Sidney Moncrief
PG: Johnny Davis
6th: Ray Williams
Honorable Mention: John Paxson

Steve Duin, the Oregonian...

Clemon Johnson played a significant role as a glue guy last season - is Dr. J prepared to relinquish a star turn in order to be an effective role-player?

That was a huge loss. We tried really hard to resign him. But his sorry ass wanted more money instead of staying at his beautiful home in downtown Cleveland, where he enjoyed beautiful weather. Dr. J knows the time is now. He understands his role and we expect Dr. J to deliver. Thank you for your great question.
