Who will be the All Star MVP?
Why so you think this player will shine brighter than the brightest?
What about this game suits his play?

Who will be the All Star MVP? I will jump in and be the first to say that it will be Magic. He has a couple seasons under his belt now and he simply fills a stat sheet better than anyone in the league. He has been in the game before and I think he will thrive.

Why do you think this player will shine brighter than the brightest? Simply his all around game. His ability to effortlessly drop 30 while facilitating the ball and crashing the boards wont be affected with all stars around him, I think it will likely elevate his numbers.

What about this game suits his play? The lights are bright and this is his element. While he will be facing other league all stars, he will also be dishing the ball to some of the best players in the East and should have more room to work/score than he does in regular season games. I expect big numbers Magic

See, I *don't* think this will be Magic. If you look at the history of all-star games, the bench generally plays more than the starters do and I am pretty sure Magic will be a starter. That means the bench gets the chance to rack up a lot of minutes, therefore a lot of stats, therefore win the All-Star MVP. And that's almost always done by scoring. So what I need to do is figure out my guesses at the starters, then pick the top scorer among the non-starters.

If I'm guessing at starters:
East: C McHale; F English, Williams; G Dantley, Moncrief
West: C Parish; F Magic, Moses; G Natt, Davis

That leaves Bernard King and Kiki Vandeweghe coming off the bench for the West at forward and Terry Cummings and Joe Barry Carroll off the bench at C for the East. Since Cummings and JBC will be splitting minutes (there's only one C spot) that points me to Vandeweghe and King. Vandeweghe is averaging more points (35.9 vs. 33.4) in fewer minutes (34.4 vs. 36.0) so I'll guess it's Kiki.

Who will be the All Star MVP?
My pick for MVP will be Moses Malone. While his numbers may seem down this year, compared to previous seasons, that speaks more to having Parish on the team than to Malone's individual play. He doesn't need to do it all but he still having a great season.

Why do you think this player will shine brighter than the brightest?
The All Star game typically isn't about winning the game. It's a time for players to really showcase why they are the best in the league. This will suit Malone since I think he will be able to go back to his ways before of doing everything the team needs him to do, and more.

What about this game suits his play?
Again, not having to share the ball with anybody will mean more time for him to just play his game. And that means he will have the ability to take any shot he wants, as many times as he wants. Wouldn't be surprised if he goes for 40+ in this game

Who will be the All Star MVP?
Undoubtedly, I think MVP will be the current points leader, Kiki Vandeweghe.

Why so you think this player will shine brighter than the brightest?
We are looking at an all-star game here. We have some elite passers in the West that can easily feed him the ball... and I'm not even talking about Magic. And in the East, there aren't alot of PFs that can handle him. But let's be real, who plays defense in the All-Star Game?

What about this game suits his play?
His sheer athleticism and ability to get to the basket is unrivaled. Add in the fact that he has the quickness of a guard playing against bigs in an environment not conducive to defense taking over... oh yeah he's going off!

I'm going with Dantley on this one.
I think he is going to benefit from from more traditional structure in the East where the contending teams mostly are built around a scoring machine leading reliable role players, where the West has more complete players that play D, score, and rebound. He knows his assignment, and he consistently gets money.
It comes down to more pie available in a loosely played game.
My dark horse would be Robert Parish.

Reigning defending All star game MVP Moses Malone will receive repeat honors!! I know, it has never happened before in PBSL (that I know of), but who other than Moses could possibly get it done? No one! His numbers have dropped this year because of reduced playing time and playing next to another All star caliber player in Robert Parish. Nonetheless, once Moses has a chance to break free of the ways of an all in team and show his true solo power? Look out, everyone. He will be the ASG MVP.

Him or Magic, though, honestly. Maybe Kiki or Natt. But most likely it's Moses baby.
Somehow I manage.
