Jazz Session #1

Post by Xist2Inspire »

"This has to be some form of cultural appropriation, right?"

So. I'm not quite sure yet if I'll attempt to have my pressers match the narrative I have in mind, as opposed to just using them for general "ask me anything" sessions with the actual person behind the narrative. So for now, I'll just keep it simple.

I'm mildly amused at how the second creation draft has mirrored my first. Once again, the player I valued most got selected ahead of where I picked. Once again, I found myself with a high initial pick that made it difficult to put the pieces in place that I wanted to. Once again, my best player is a super talented wing. But, there are differences. Unlike before, the player I ended up going with as my first pick fit my narrative, as opposed to me having to abandon my narrative due to my preferred player not falling to me. Unlike before, my best player is an offensive juggernaut rather than a defensive savant. And unlike before, I know exactly what I want to do going forward.

So with that basic overview...yeah, ask me anything.

Moses Malome, Bay Area News Group: What exactly is it that you want to do going forward? You got a starting 5 yet?
Somehow I manage.

Tell us about the move to Utah.
We saw you shopping in the Phoenix area, what went into the decision to move to the Salt Lake?
Also, how impressed are you with Kiki Vandeweghe?
How do you plan on bringing in help?
What cha gonna do

Now that you are the owner of the Jazz will you ask the commissioner for approval to relocate back to New Orleans or stay in Utah?

Generic Wolves Reporter: It seems you targeted a lot of smart basketball minds that one day may become coaches or general managers. Was that intentional?

So right now my starting 5 is Rich Kelley, Jeff Cook, Rudy Tomjanovich, Kiki Vandeweghe, and Paul Westphal. Making Mike Dunleavy a 6th man probably seems a bit odd, but I wasn't really able to grab any real guard depth, so to keep a respectable rotation, to the bench he goes. As for what I want to do...hmm, I guess I just want to eventually put together a really unique and good team.

-Dr. K's favorite team is the Phoenix Suns, and he ended up with the Utah Jazz, so that pretty much meant that if I wanted to let him play as his favorite team, I had to take the Jazz.

-Kiki's awesome, he has the potential to be a lgamebreaker offensively. As time passes, we often forget just how legitimately great past stars were. Looking at the raw physical profiles of guys like Vandeweghe, Magic, Bird, etc. really drives home how ridiculous the notion is that the players today are just inherently physically better than players of the past. Vandeweghe's literally white Carmelo Anthony.

-My 1982 1st will be on the block, but I'm not expecting to be a legitimate threat this season. As such, I'm already looking towards next season's draft to find Kiki's future running mate.

I've been asking since Day 1. I actually sent in two "preferred team" lists, one had the Phoenix Suns as #1, and the other had the Utah Jazz as #1...with the condition that they had to be moved back to New Orleans.

No, it was almost completely a matter of circumstance, though I may work that into the story.
