As the 60 Day mark approaches, what are you thinking about your teams direction?
Are you looking to make moves?
Are you happy with your trajectory?
Are things going as you planned?
How are your trade talks going?
What kind of piece are you shopping for, or why are you sticking with your current roster?
Rules: 1 point if you give thoughtful answers, which I will award after the timer ends for responses. The timer ends for responses at the moment the corresponding week's Sim is run.
Note: Use approximately 5 sentences as your bare minimum for 1 point. If you write 3 long, complex sentences, you'll still get a point. If you write 5, 3 word sentences, you will not get a point. Don't @ me.
It should be no surprise that I'm looking to compete this season, and to do so, I'm always looking to make trades. I don't really have any active talks going on now, but I would love to beef up this team.
I'm pretty set on 4/5 starters, and I'd like to get deeper on the bench. I'm looking for quality expiring guys on contracts I don't have to move one of my big 4 to get...not looking for cheap depth for a few points, more for guys that should cost 15 points or a projected late lotto pick or an interesting green pot rookie. I'm willing to combine assets, too, and willing to part with them all if I have to. I'll even part with Dyson Daniels if it makes sense, but that would take a starter caliber win now guy with multiple years left on the contract. Dyson may be just over the blue current line now, but he'll still take some time to actually be starter caliber. If I keep him, I probably build him into a centerpiece that can play multiple positions depending on the team I put around him.
But if the league wants someone to dethrone the Pistons, and trust me...I know I'm probably not that much more exciting of an option than Doug four-peating...but the Mavs have one asset who isn't moving unless it's for an extremely special player, no points, and no valuable picks, and the Suns don't have much more than points to work with to beef up, so we're probably all going for a different range of player to beef up, and I definitely got the goods and hopefully a reputation of giving more than fair value in trades to get stuff done. Get at me!
Everything is going to plan right now. The team has had its typical ups and downs but given that the core is a bunch of bluechip prospects, this is expected. Overall, I'm happy with the team's trajectory. I'd like to tinker a bit with the lineup around the edges because I have some expiring money with Dick, Castaneda, and Gilmore on the books that I'd like to convert into useful depth for the build forward but I'm not sure this is the best year for those kinds of trades. I've sent a few offers here and there but all of them were rejected so far. My main goal is to stay under the tax another season while remaining in the playoff race. I'm content with the status quo if the right trade does not come along but I'll hold out hope another GM sees some value with those contracts and my other assets like draft picks so we can make a mutually beneficial deal.
Things aren't going as planned. Tanking is failing again with this 10-4 start. Instead of being in the lotto hunt, I am 2 games back of being the top team in the conference and currently have the leagues longest win streak at 5. Weird but fun at the same time. I guess I will have to roll with winning it seems. If my team keeps going into this winning direction, I may have to explore the option of adding a win now piece or 2 to the team. Maybe I can put some of this extra cap space to use. We'll see how the season goes tho.
My first sims are hard to judge my team so far. Jose left early sim 1 and came back late sim2. I've also started playing against harder opponents, so naturally I've lost more games. I am very interested in this sim3 coming up because I am playing opponents in similar quality to my team, so I can really judge If I am heading in the correct direction of playoffs or not. My decision will probably be based on the next sim or two and either have a firesale or hold strong to my team. Probably not going to get a piece unless someone is interested in what I have currently.
I am looking to move Kessler for an upgrade to my starters. With SVG I have managed to get a player that can start at the three or four, which allows me to trade Kessler for an upgrade at several positions. I have had some talks that I think can materialize, and I hope that one of them do. I may be looking to make another move after that, but wait and see type thing. I may be moved out by this point as I have already moved a lot of capital to get Stan. Hopefully the Kessler move helps me get closer to competing with the Pistons.
What are you thinking about your teams direction?
We are in a state of purgatory right now. We are not good enough to contend, but we are not bad enough to tank (and I do not own my draft pick so tanking is not even an option). It is weird.
Are you looking to make moves?
100%
Are you happy with your trajectory?
Right now, not at all. I'm not sure where this team is going so I need to assess what I want to do now.
Are things going as you planned?
As planned, not really but as expected sure. I knew this would be a tough season and I'm not wrong there so far.
How are your trade talks going?
Non-existent. I need to update my trade block.
What kind of piece are you shopping for, or why are you sticking with your current roster?
I really need to improve the assets on the team. I'd like to exchange my veterans for some rookie deals. I'm not looking for studs but if I cannot get my draft pick I'd at least like something I can try to build with so if anyone is in the market for a deal hit me up.
I'm not crazy about my start, but it was to be expected after that TC.
I was hoping to contend at a very high level this season, and thought my team was very deep, but now the collective took a step back.
I still have some solid win now pieces in Newland and Davis, and I will continue to champion Brimah to anyone who will listen.
Claytor is a very valuable piece for me at the moment because he can contribute right away for a title contender on a rookie contract.
Forbes and Rivera are much less attractive because of their production compared to their salary, but they are very solid role players. If a team doesn't mind pushing a lil further into the tax to take out the champ, they could help.
Most of my money will clear after this season, so I don't have to make a move, but I am looking for a very solid prospect to pair with Brimah or some decent value for my role players.
So far talks have been friendly but unproductive.
Oof, what a great question. My team is weird because we don't have any weak links or people pulling us down. My 1-5 is probably the best in the league and that showed when I played the Pistons twice this last sim and blew them out both games. I think depth wise we are solid as well but if I could get another solid wing to backup scoot and Lewis exclusively then I wouldn't sniff at that. I have a few options but they are more than likely trade deadline options. A big thing right now is hammering down a defensive play style because we should be holding opponents to fewer points than we are. However the biggest thing is, getting our cohesion up so that we can start hammering off consecutive wins and stop losing to bad teams. All in all a solid team with a meh start. But they'll get it going! I have faith.
The 8-4 start deserves a B-
The team has probably underperformed, though I'm not really upset about it because, yes, I've been trying to make moves. I'm not dying to get worse, however, I want to clean up my books a bit, maybe earn some points, and perhaps an asset or 2. I've had some minor trade asks but there's no movement on anything serious right now. Partly due to my lack of taking initiative, I'm sure. Granted, our area has been hit by 2 hurricanes and I've been not feeling well, so I'll use those as excuses. I'm still open to sending talent out and will continue to be. However, I need to save money, gain points, and/or grab youthful assets to make moves. At least 2 of the 3 in any one deal, maybe all 3 depending on the player. Come find me if you're interested in chatting. I'll try to get the energy to do the same.
As the 60 Day mark approaches, what are you thinking about your teams direction? Much better now than after Sim 1.
Are you looking to make moves? I would still like to acquire Bryon Nelson out of Washington, but those talks just never panned out. I have one more LONG SHOT in the works but I'm not holding my breath. I fully expect some bs, but since my team righted the ship after sim 2 I'm not that worried about it. The trade partner should be worried, because they need this deal more than I do.
Are you happy with your trajectory? All things considered, absolutely. This was a build that went fully cooked financially way before it did talentwise. I could have pivoted a while ago, but nothing piqued my interest. I've gotten a lot of horrible offers for Claxton. Who knows if you make an offer that isn't total shite...?
Are things going as you planned? After sim 2, yes. I reckon sim 3 will continue in this trajectory.
How are your trade talks going? lol see above
What kind of piece are you shopping for, or why are you sticking with your current roster? The dynamic between Nick and Breanna could be shaken up a bit. If you want one of them, it's possible, but if you offer me shit I will treat you like shit. Because they're actually fine together, and probably still better than your front court.
As the 60 Day mark approaches in my first season with my sweet sweet Magic, I can honestly say its been some late nights in the office. Pouring over so many numbers, studying other squads, leaving ghosted voicemails for other GMs inquiring about how I may be able to help there cap situation. I'm the new guy in the cafeteria, who wants to talk to that guy. Its okay, I can wait. Ill find a way into the mix.
The team's current direction is bleak, but I dont let the fellas know that. Anything is possible through Christ, so jot that down.
Its not secret that we are looking to make moves. We have to get younger and everyone knows no one is safe. Thats the business, but maybe if they play hard for us now, they could find themselves on a championship roster this season. If not, you're probably playing golf next year.
The trajectory of the Magic right now is admittedly flat, but I have a feeling we have some moves in our future and an exciting draft night ahead. That makes me happy. Can't get too low during dark times.
I planned on shocking the world. Maybe the sim would have a Cinderella story in its algorithm. I am not shocking anyone and the sim is dragging me from the back of the car, so no, things are not going as I planned. Things are going just as predicted and thats okay, the plan will evolve.
As stated above, trade talks are a lonely place for me right now. I understand it, who wants the guys that were already cut. I may not have anything to offer here early in the season, but teams will under perform and managers will start to plan for next year. Thats when I'll strike. Dump those contracts on me. Come at me with a draft pick or players under 30 and you wont have to wait long for a response.
Found the soap box in the town hall. Gotta make some noise so everyone knows I'm here.
Not good at all. It's going horrible. I have no PG. He's hurt. I'm starting over. Vassell will be my star. I'll surround a new team around Vassell. Yes, I'll be making moves. In fact, I have already made moves. I'm active. Stay tune.
