S72 Orlando Magic Presser

Post by NY_Magic_Garrett »

"Let the Magic Begin!"
Good afternoon, everyone!! Please, please, hold your applause—

pauses dramatically

I know I know, who's the new guy huh... really waiting until buzzer to have his first presser. Not a great look...anyway I’m thrilled to be standing here today as the new General Manager of the Orlando Magic. I stand here today not just as a man, but as an architect ready to conjure the impossible and craft a dynasty worthy of legends. It's my first stint as a GM, but don’t let that fool you—after all, every magic trick begins with a bit of uncertainty...

another long pause

No? Nothing? Okay, well I am deeply honored to step into this role and take command of the team. Yes, some might say the roster is currently filled with the undesirables. I, however, see them as the unique base ingredients of something special. We are closer to greatness than many realize.

And speaking of magic....I have a lot up my sleeve, and I will let you all in on what most of that is..... cap space. You see, while I am rebuilding a team, my first order of business is establishing some good faith and rapport amongst my fellow managers across the league. So to all my fellow competitors, cumbersome, expiring contracts weighing you down? Need some financial sleight of hand? Allow me to make those contracts disappear like smoke in the night. I may be new, but I am not naive. Help me, help you.

Now enough of that -- I want to address our fans. Let them doubt our potential, just remember, even the grandest dynasties started somewhere. We might be at a new beginning, but I can already see our rise on the horizon. From the "undesirables" to the unbeatable, it’s only a matter of time. Watch as we transform this squad into something you’ll need to see to believe. Buckle up Magic fans, the show is just beginning!

Alright thats all I have for now so, ask away, I know you have all been waiting for this moment, hit me with all your big brain questions. Pick on the new guy. I'm ready for it.

Picks Emmington of the New Orleans Advocate,

First, welcome to the league. We always enjoy new faces and judging by your presser, you’ll fit right in.

Second, do you place any pressure on yourself to fill the shoes of the previous GM? Or do you see yourself more as just moving past him and worrying about your own legacy?

John Johnson, The Jackson Journal: You've come into this season with a team full of free agents and, some would say, "over the hill" players; while also having a few young stars in the making. In your opinion, which Disney World™ ride would you say best describes your team coming into this season?

First year in the league, coming into a not great looking team, what is your goal this season? Are you looking to pull a proverbial rabbit out of the hat and get the #1 draft pick to set up for future seasons?

Sham Smith, Bulls.com: Welcome to the league! It's great to see you jump in right away with the presser to hit the ground running. Since you don't have too much to base answers off of, what parts of the season/offseason/playoffs do you anticipate having the most fun doing personally?

Also, as a vet, just want to extend that my PM box is always open if you have any questions!

Happy to be here. Ready to get to work. No pressure to fill any shoes. Never saw the shoes. Office was cleaned out without a trace by the time arrived. Didnt even leave a note. My mark on this organization, this league, and my legacy is what I can control. We only look forward in Orlando now. Its a new culture.

Really great question, very unexpected archive of my brain I need to access here, but I fear the Mouse is going to be a bigger part of my life going forward, better get use to it.

I will give you 2. My hope, Test Track, simply a test dummy moving through different stages of the Sim only to see the gates open and I speed forward.

Likely comparison. Tower of Terror. Thats all I have to say about that.

Thank you for coming

I think you are spot on. Seeing myself at the top of the draft board this offseason would be the biggest win I could hope for. In-season we are going to work on accumulating as much youth, potential, and points as we can to set ourselves up for a productive offseason.

To be honest, I have been quite disappointed with the state of my inbox. I was prepared for the sharks to circle. I may have to go out and find the action myself. This roster cant afford to wait around to see what happens.

@AngryBanana you know where to find me

Any offer of help from someone with banners in their signature is welcomed and appreciated.

Really looking forward to analyzing in season performance of a bottom of the table team and determining how I want to play and build. Also looking forward getting some young players I can start investing in.
