SEASON 72 - LIVE FROM TORONTO PENNY'S PRESS CONFERENCE

Post by pennpanther1 »

We did it.

After over a decade of failed attempts, the Toronto Raptors won a playoff series.

This is my greatest achievement to date as GM. I am so proud of the team. The rest of the playoffs were a disappointment but we will learn from our mistakes and come back stronger.

But now we move on to Season 72. I am not going to sugarcoat it. This season will be our toughest yet. We lost fan favorite Kamari Brown to the Chicago Bulls (good luck KB) but we brought back TM3, Ho You Fat, Quigley, and Mel Samples to team up with Remy Martin and Brandon Ingram for one last hurrah. We do not own our draft pick this season so we must stay competitive and spoil that pick from hitting a jackpot in the lottery. We were fortunate enough to select John Jackman from NC State during the draft. He is an interesting prospect at Center and look forward to developing him in our farm system.

I am excited to face our challenges head on but we are entering uncharted territory now, so wish me luck.

Kamari Brown has been a staple of the Toronto locker room for a long time. How has his absence been felt by the teammates? Who's stepping up to fill his shoes this year?
Somehow I manage.

Sham Smith, Bulls.com: Offense seemed to be a huge concern with this squad in preseason. Can you talk about some of the things you think that the recommended roster got wrong in terms of who was taking shots and who was playing where?

It has been tough, the guys are still adjusting. I think Remy Martin and Trey Murphy III are going to step up and fill the scoring void this season.

I think there was too much of a focus on Albert Morrow and Mel Samples in the preseason. I count on them to provide secondary scoring options but they took way too many shots at an inefficient rate during the preseason which hurt our overall offensive outlook.

The Net of Brooklyn: With the age of your star players on your roster, is this a boom or bust season for the Raptors?

Yeah, playoffs or bust.
