S70 Town Hall #7: "Hey Now! You're An All-Star! Get The Show On!"

Post by MexicanMamba »

Get Paid!

It's All-Star Weekend and so it's time to tell everyone why your player deserves to get on the court and completely ignore how to play defense!

Pick 1 player on your own team and let everyone know why they belong in the big game.

Rules: 1 point if you give thoughtful answers which I will award after the timer ends for responses. The timer ends for responses at the moment the corresponding week's Sim is run.

Note: Use approximately 5 sentences as your bare minimum for 1 point. If you write 3 long, complex sentences, you'll still get a point. If you write 5 3 word sentences, you will not get a point. Don't @ me.

Due: Sim 7 deadline.

Maxwell Lewis deserves his first all star appearance. The team has success and it always has with him as a sun. But this is the first time he's stepping out as a leader of a team and that should reflect in the decision to get him his first appearance. Maxwell is averaging 20-5-4 with 2 steals. He also held down the fort until the other stars could join him at day 60. He's the longest reigning sun, and the leader of this group. It's time he earns his flowers.

Jody Kinsella

Right off the bat, I'll say there's no chance in hell that Jody actually snags one of these spots. At the Center position, he has to compete with Charley Quick, Kel'el Ware and Dan Spooner. It's stacked in Alpha. That being said, Kinsella is starting to come into his own as a focal point in a winning offense. After averaging 12.1 and 13.8 points the past 2 seasons (and with good minutes too), he's up to 20 points per game this season and doing in on efficient numbers, including shooting a more than respectable .349 % from 3, where he takes a good number of attempts. TS% and PER are both either great or above average as well, plus he averages 1.7 blocks and 1.6 assists to boot. To top it off, he's the leading scorer of the current 5 seed team, showing that maybe he can be counted on more than some of his bigger named counterparts (2 of which are below the Lakers in the playoff race). Jody is still growing, so perhaps his All-star appearances are a season or 2 away, but he's playing high level basketball and I acknowledge him.

Victor Wembanyama

The Center position at the All-Star game is always a crapshoot which opens the door for Wemby this season, particularly in the Omega Conference. He is averaging 18/10 this season to go along with 3 blocks and 1.5 steals to lead the Grizzlies in player efficiency. Despite being a little bit slower, and little less jumpy than his prime Wemby continues to show why he is such a special talent in this league. He deserves an All-Star bid because he is one of the reasons my team has nearly doubled its win total from a season ago. Hell, if they make the playoffs I'd submit his name for MVP just because he deserves the love. The All-Star game is supposed to showcase the league's best talent and this season Wemby is the complete player who deserves a nod.

Dominitrix Johnson

She is a top 5 talent in the league and he single-handedly brought my team back from a tanking season. During sim 6 I kept everything the same except I moved Dominitrix to PG, we went on a 7 game winning streak and are back in the playoff hunt. She puts up 24 points a game on 34 min. She defends like a beast. She more efficient than last year. She shooting at .554 percent. Her 3 point percentage is top 15, her scoring is top 8. Without scoot taking all the shots she is coming to life and leading this team back to the playoffs.

This one is pretty easy for me now - Walker Kessler.

I am going to do the MLB approach here, and assume that one player from my team is "required" to go to the all star game. Kessler is the only player on my team at this point that is still at the caliber of All-star after resetting my roster. Booger and Lew are doing ok, with Lew hopefully winning ROY, but still developing and not at that top tier level yet. Also, if I am ignoring defense entirely, it should still be Lew but meh. Kessler meanwhile is having another very solid season with 15pts, and about 8 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks. He is the only player with a positive +/- on my team (however I do not expect that to last now that he is on my team. Griner also has a case for going to the game as well, but I also doubt that she would get the call as she is still not at the point of being dominant yet as well.

There's no question that my answer here should be Mac McClung, so I'm going with Trey Murphy III because it's a more interesting direction. Trey doesn't do all the things Mac does, but in terms of pure scoring ability, he's the best player on my team. With threes turned up all the way, Murphy III is still putting up an incredible shooting clip, going .525/.887/.475 for a cool 20 points a night. He's been such a reliable and efficient player, I'm even considering accepting the team option for next season. If he's not in the ASG, he should at least be in the three point contest, and still boasting a 94 JMP, I'd like to see him in the dunk contest as well.

Remy Martin

Remy has been a true team player this season. He joined the squad this past offseason and got thrusted into the starting PG spot when I did not have any other options. He handled the role admirably but after acquiring Daniel Johnson he shifted down to PF where he has thrived. He leads the team in scoring and is the key cog for this team's success. He still maintains his PG eligibility so it will be a tall order, particularly in this conference but if anyone from the Raptors cracks the All-Star game it needs to be Remy Martin.

Delmer Bricker

This acquisition has brought our entire locker room together. Delmer is putting up fantastic numbers for us and one of our primary scoring options. I don't think Breanna Stewart has the year she's having without Delmer, and as a team, we're probably not floating around the playoff rankings either. My boy will drop dimes every second he's in the all-star game, he'll fake you out with a nice move to the hole without turning the ball over (usually). Honestly, scoring wise this is not his best season but overall he's playing better all around ball than he has at any other point in his career. Love you Delmer
Somehow I manage.

Wishful thinking! I wanted him in UFA :)

But we got an even better player now in Kenneth Douglas! Go Kenneth go!

He hasn't really jumped off the page like I wanted since the trade, but my most likely participant would be AJ Blaze. He can flat out fill it up. He's a top 5 scorer who should get even more touches on my team than he was getting with the Bucks. Not much D going on, but that is perfect for the all star game. Also, I'm confidant that Amida Brimah is winning MVP of the rookie game.

Definitely Tony Lee for my team. He’s the best shooter and player. He’s up there in minutes and PPG with other top players in the league. Defense could be better but I think after another offseason of training we could see another jump from him to really cement himself as a top player in the league. This is a great breakout year for him and he’s showing he can handle all that we ask of him. He definitely is deserving of a chance to play on the court with the rest of the top players in the league

Justin Amos is and will always be my All-Star. He made the All Star game back in 2057, somehow got snubbed in 2058, and deserves to be back this year. Going with 2057 as a bench mark, he is outperforming every stat category from that year so far in 2059, except for Personal Fouls, and has a slightly lower FG%. So he is an all around better player today than he was when he was actually an All Star. Lock him in.

The only guy on my team who should be considered is Charlie Dimaggio. He’s averaging 22 pts, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 blocks with shooting .500 from the field. He’s definitely going to be in the Rookies/Sophomores game but might sneak into the All Star Game too because of the blocks average which might jump him over another player to get in. That’s pretty good for a second round cut from last season and then cut after one sim after playing in only two games by another team that I picked up in Free Agency last season.

Master P. With Pee Wee being a giving I decided to go in I different direction. He's been playing consistently good basketball. Came in and helped the team out a PG while Jose was out injured. He did a really good job when he was called to step into the PG role. I know there are other players who will get that spot but hopefully he is considered for a spot by the voters. If not maybe he'll get that spot next season.

The Cavs have two elite players that deserve to be an all-star. This year I'm going with SG Devin Vassell. SG Vassell has been twice the player of the week. SG Vassell has a record of 51 times player of the game. SG Vassell average 30 pts per game. Here's the best part, he's only 25 yrs-old and he's getting better. It was a crime he wasn't selected to the all-star last season. He's the reason the Cavs will make it the playoffs.

Lauri Markannen, Hoyt Timmerman, Bernardo Carrasco

My team has 3 All-Star level players at least (maybe 4), and their issue is that they each take the ball out of the others hands. As a result, there's a good chance that one or all 3 could end up missing out. They all are playing on a high level, and would benefit from one of the others not being on the court! That's the problem when your team is just full of all-star calibur talent... HO HUM.
