A silence hangs in the air, no one is sure how Coach Jedihero will enter the room after the explosion that occurred in last season’s presser.
The doors open, Jedihero slowly and calmly walks up to the podium.
“…DJ…Play that funky music white boy!”
*JOCK JAMS ARE Y’ALL READY FOR THIS STARTS PLAYING*
Jedihero starts dancing on the stage, just going absolutely bananas. He rips his jacket off to show the 2058 Alpha Conference Champions shirt on underneath. Confetti cannons are shot into the press area. Rocky the Lion enters the room with a T shirt cannon and absolutely blasts someone in the chest.
Everything finally calms down, Jedihero, being an overweight individual, stands at the podium panting into the mic, trying to catch his breath.
“…Good…Morning…Everybody.” *BREATHES DEEPLY*
“Welcome to S70, and I just want to start out by saying how happy and excited I am of what we accomplished this past season. Personally, I won Coach of the Year, which is a great honour and I appreciate everyone who voted for me with this award. We also had it through 2 grueling 7 game series, and 1 easy 6 gamer, to get to the Finals. Yes, we did get swept against an outstanding Pisstons teams, but my guys and this team went through hell and high water to get there, and I am SO GOD DAMN PROUD OF EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THEM!”
“We entered S69 pissed off, after a very disappointing loss in the first round of S68 playoffs. We had an outstanding start last year and jumped out to a solid lead in the division. That was quickly overtaken by a Bulls team who came down the stretch in great form, but we entered playoffs as the #3 seed and we deserved it, considering our schedule was less than kind the last 2 months of the season.”
“The Playoffs came and man, what a ride it was. We had a 7 game series against the Magic, who made trades mid-season and showed the league they were ready to compete by taking a 2-0 lead on both of our homes games, and going up 3-1 in the series. The Nuggies did not quit as we changed up a few things and took the next 3 games to close out the series and advance.”
“Next, we had the Celtics, who let’s be honest, had no business being where they were. We took them down in a 6-game series that seemed closer than it really was.”
“Finally, we had the Bulls, who have a reputation of being one of the toughest teams to face in the playoffs, and the trophy cabinet to back it up. We took them to a 7 game series and miraculously, beat them on the road, in Overtime, in what people are calling the greatest game ever to be played in Sim League history….allegedly. We took our place as Conference Title Champions and booked our trip to the finals."
“Finally, our Cinderella story came to an end when we got smashed by the Pisstons. It didn’t help that the backbone of our team, Ron Harper Jr, who had a fantastic year, got injured in Game 1 and was out until game 4. I want to congratulate the Pisstons on a great season, and hopefully we get to see them again sometime and extract some revenge.”
“NOW, onto this year, S70, I did everything I could to make sure we got the same pieces of our team back and had to dish out some funds in the process. I was really happy with Kofi’s move to PG after Amen left us high and dry last season, GET F@^&ED YOU P*&$^ @$$ B*(%&…..AHEM, excuse me. We made sure to exercise our RFA rights on him and then we turned around and offered a lucrative contract to Joseph Ford, who was one of the best 6th men in the league last year. I made a trade to get rid of some lower contracts and take on Chris Markham, who will add depth to the C/PF position, which is what we were sorely lacking last season.”
“As we move into training camp I’m putting an emphasis on conditioning and hoping we can get everyone fit and ready to make another deep run into the playoffs, but this time achieving the ultimate goal of being Champions.”
Boy do I feel bad for that guy who took the tshirt to the chest. Pretty sure I heard something break oh sorry didn’t realize you called on me.

First off, prayers to the guy and hope he makes a speedy recovery. Although I, for one, enjoyed the theatrics. I was able to catch the tshirt ricochet off his chest and will wear it proudly out of here.
Second, congrats on a successful season even though you came up just short. In just two years at GM you have made the playoffs both times and had a finals appearance. Remarkable.
My only question is how will you approach this season with your team in regards to the finals fatigue. We know how hard it is to make the playoffs, let alone the finals, but what do you see yourself doing differently to make sure your players have a short memory and come back ready to bring home the trophy?

Great question, like I said in my initial remarks, I want this Training Camp to focus on Conditioning so we have the legs to go all the way. Another thing would be to secure that home field advantage throughout the season and into the playoffs. We dropped a few games at home which made all of our series longer than they should have been. We need help from the fans for this and make the Gold Mine a real place to be scared of.
Sham Smith, Bulls.com: As a fairly new GM, you took over a team that was in decent shape and managed to build into a Finals contender in just a couple seasons. Since you're avoiding a trial by fire thus far, what lessons are you able to learn from watching what struggling teams are doing wrong?

Look, this is definitely a spot no one wants to be in. We will definitely reassess after the 60 day mark and the. Again closer to deadline day. All depends on how hot we come out the gates.
AngryBanana wrote:Chet Youbetcha, Dimmadome News: Did TC change your opinion of your team at all?
Absolutely not. All my young playmakers had decent camps, Kofi reached a new level we haven’t seen from him yet, excited about that. Amos and RHJ got hit a bit but as they are getting older it’s expected for them to drop.

I’m definitely in an interesting position. All my experience I’m gaining right now is more about managing all my players contracts and signing/trading for win now players. There’s a whole other world I haven’t set foot in, which is building a team from the ground up and forming it into a contending team. I’ll definitely see if I can put my money where my mouth is once I get into a serious rebuild phase.

Considering the cap, do you have a plan in place to pay taxes?
I do. It was one of the first things I looked at, before deciding on any of my players contracts. I believe I’m in a decent spot to be able to pay by the end of the year at my current spot, hoping another deep playoff run will help out with that. Beyond this season, I might have to reassess and offload some big contracts to reset.
Having an honest evaluation of your roster is an important part of sim success. With that in mind, do you feel like your roster is capable of winning a championship as-is? Also, identify what you believe your biggest area of concern is which you'd like to attempt to shore up in the pursuit of a title.
Coming off your finals appearance, you're sitting with the most expensive roster coming into the season. Do you think your team can get back to the finals and this time, beat the odds on favorite in the Detroit pistons

I believe I have an all around solid roster. I don’t think I’m the best at anything, or the worst at things. I think any roster has the chance of going all the way, it just depends on how you game plan with them, and of course a little bit of luck. If I were completely honest, I’d expect to at least get back to the Conference Finals. One major concern last year was having Amos one of the top guys in turnovers last year, and unfortunately, after preseason it looks like that will happen again, but there’s not much I can do with that since he’s untrainable.

The Pisstons have a fantastic roster, and it would probably take a miracle to take them down in the playoffs. All we need is another shot at them, and to believe miracles can happen.

What is your opinion about the division this season? Do you see any real threats coming from there?
I'm excited for the change up in the divisions. Look, we had a great season with 52 wins last year and Bucks were 1 game behind us at 51. THe postseason probably looks totally different too if we switch positions and seeds. Long way to say I expect them to be competing with us all year long. Other than that, Cavs/Celtics were borderline playoff teams and only because someone had to win the division last year. So, honestly, I expect to lead this division and hopefully, come away with the 1 seed for the first year in the new conference.
