That way we would not need to ask for player pages and everyone would be equally ignorant, except the current commish which is fine because commish is the most necessary and hardest job, so whatever.
I mean, that's how it usually works...I don't know about other commissioners, but I try to only look when necessary, but since pretty much every halfway decent player is insured, every commissioner ever will know the current ratings of most of the league. You need to access those pages for TC insurance, player renames, player training--especially B->A checks, RFA contract stuff, some free agent signings, among other reasons. And it's usually a lot to ask for only one person to do every single commissioning action (though I think I was able to handle most of them and Nate seems like he's equipped to do that so far, although Roberto's frequent vacations and Nate's penchant for cruises mean that we'll probably need some sub work...the only person with commissioner level access who doesn't do any actual admin is that skunk, Doug)

The thing is, I don't think these player pages give too much of an advantage. The potential grades you can see on the rosters, player pages, and elsewhere generally tell you very similar things as the numbers behind them. And more than that, player stats are a much better measure of a player's efficacy than the hidden ratings and even the color band system.

Sure, it's hard to get the overall numbers out of your head once you've seen them, but I feel like I've seen people become over-reliant on them, and it costs them in terms of team building and overall success. Bottom line, though is that if you want to get better at the game, looking at player pages isn't going to help more than analyzing player stats, learning every other GM's needs and trade tendencies, figuring out how to best approach free agency and how to structure and balance teams around competitive windows. All of these things are things that the Commissioner has to be involved in for every team, every step of the way. They're also things that everyone else has access to and can follow and internalize if they choose to. All of the GMs who have this stuff figured out made it to the next level this way before getting commissioner powers. In fact, it's probably the dedicated knowledge of how to play the game that made them good candidates to run the league in the first place.

Its been mentioned on multiple occasions that knowing if a player is in the high 90's very important. (I mean I just got reamed for it in the Parker trade) The only way to know that is checking player pages. Also in order to train a player without wasting points you need to see the player page. Also you know how close they are to going purple. So know the player page is at least that valuable.

Although if we get rid of training, it significantly reduce the value of knowing the player page.

this was a monster town hall, and I just read all of it, and don't want to score it. Alas, I'm employed, not funemployed.
