Rise From The Flames

Post by Mike Lowry »

You may have slept on it, but the kitchen got hot.
We done turned the Heat up around here and it's only gettin hotter.
At current rate, we'll be out the tax by the 60 day trade session.
And we're looking to be out of assets before the deadline hits too.
And don't take that the wrong way.
We're lightweight juiced to have acquired Frank Chavez in the off-season.
We're over the moon about Amida Brimah jumpin out the gym during TC and coming back with a blue potential.
And we have a few role players that showed that they can hold their own in the preseason.
We don't think it does us any good to tank at this point.
Our rebuild is officially started.
And that means we ain't got time for bullshit like what Arthur Kimball pulled in camp after we insured his funky ass potentials.
So we shipped his bitch ass out on the first thing smokin.
Didn't have real high expectations for our other draft picks, and they didn't do us or themselves any favors.
If they act like bitches, we'll send em like bitches.
We don't expect any of the players on the roster now to be here when we compete for a title, but the deals that they leave on will sow seeds for a great future.
We will get out of the business of taking on bad contracts.
That door is officially closed, and if you held onto somebody that we tried to take off your hands, we hope it doesn't come back to bite you.
We would like to show our utmost appreciation for all the teams that helped us in our dark hours.
We won't forgot the deals that got churned out in order to bring this fine organization back into contention.

Our starting five will likely be:

Gary Payton II
Edward Bonilla
James Gibson
Andreas Gillam
Frank Chavez

And Brimah will red-shirt if he lasts past the trade deadline.

What else can we sell you?

Chet Youbetcha, Dimmadome News: Can you fill us in on your plan for your build at all? What type of players are you looking to get? How many years do you think it will take?

Sham Smith, Bulls.com: How has being in tax jail altered your opinion on team building? Are you going to be more conscious of your spending, or now that you know how to get out, do you feel more confident in trying the same strategy again by building as powerful a team you can regardless of the cost?

I think my experience was multi-faceted.
There are times for everything that is reasonable.
I am much more conscious of over-spending on marginal talent, and I know the value of cutting ties and taking losses.
I had opportunities to dump my talented players before the tax crushed me, but I wanted a return.
In this game, there are many occasions where the cap is the return.
Everybody wants stars in return for prospects, or vice versa, but I found that $100 Mil in cap can be more valuable.
100 points aren't as easy to come by as FA pickups.
I intend to rebuild very patiently.
Got a ton of first round picks in the near future.
One solid piece at a time will be a good start.

I'm trying to build through the draft.
Looking for the best available talent until I have some cornerstones.
I would love to build around defense and passing, but I'm not passing on great talent that doesn't fit that mold.
I'm hoping to be highly competitive in four seasons.
I also intend to be highly competitive in free agency, mostly to flip assets.
If you see me sign good talent to good contracts, feel free to make offers.
I won't be married to players any time soon.

Random Reporter: How excited are you to be nearing the end of your tax exile? Will your first few moves post-tax be more focused on developing your young players, or gathering talent to put around Chavez?

Andreas Gillam has done a lot since last donning a Miami Heat uniform. How did the reunion go? What did you say to each other?
Somehow I manage.

I'm Up All Night!
I can't wait to splash on free agency next season.
I don't really see either of those options as my first choice.
Shipping Chavez is likely to be the deal that gets me out the cell.
And I don't think my young players outside of Brimah are worth investing in.
They won't be stars.
If I can't trade them I'll just watch them develop into strong role players.
I have 2 1st round picks for the next 3 drafts.
I'm likely going to trade 2 for 1 in each draft to reach towards the top of the lottery.
Those are the players I'm likely to build around.

Bruh know what it is!
It always been Love.
When he left we both knew it was business, and it was the best move for each of us.
He went off to get that championship jewelry that we couldn't offer him.
But we knew he was special when we drafted him.
He's actually the last person we invested in heavily in training.
Now he is here to give back some of that game we put on him.
Always happy to have the big fella in the building.
