Rules: 1 point if you give thoughtful answers which I will award after the timer ends for responses. The timer ends for responses at the moment the corresponding week's Sim is run.
Due: Fri Dec 1 at 4pm at Sim 3 deadline
Question: Excluding your own team, who is your favorite player in the league right now and why? The player you secretly look up and see how they're doing every sim. The guy/girl that you drool and envy that they aren't on your team.
My favorite player is Antonio Gates. I'll never stop loving him. I still think I made the correct decision. He's been the only purple potential player I've ever drafted and built into that (including the bump). I would kill for that type of player at the 3 position for me right now. Maxwell will someday be a really good wing. But gates traits are just different. Come back home Gates...insert wolverine photo...

The answer was Antonio Blakeney until this season, and now that I got him, I'll pivot to Ayo Dosunmu. He's a hometown guy who I probably overvalued and uncharacteristically wouldn't cash in when he was younger because of that...until I was able to win a championship with him on the team. I'm glad to see him putting up solid numbers for the Raptors, though I would've preferred to see him put a 41 point performance against any other team but mine.
There are a few other players I watch, but it's not out of nostalgia...more like potential trade target watch list.
In a normal season, it’s AB. He was the last guy I was attached to that I won my first championship with. I am glad to see him with the Bulls.
Now though, it is Supreme. I will always wonder what would have been if I kept him now, because I know he will eventually cook. And sure enough, Ed is having him dish up assists.
Xue Huo. I've watched this guy for years, if he had a bit more help I think he'd have a title, but the Cap keeps getting in the way. He's still going to be a major factor for the 4 or 5 years, I hope he gets one... That being said I got a feeling my new guy is going to be Devin Vassell.
My favorite rename. I still love the name and he has been a solid player for almost a decade now. It is fun to see him doing well. Just sad that he was forced to waste his prime in Cleveland.
To avoid the big time obvious guys that everyone wishes they had (Wemby, Herb), I'll go with Kevon Looney. I remember leading up to his draft, I was trying like hell to find a way to get into position to draft him. He didn't scream "Superstar!" Or anything like that, to be honest. However, he was a 7 footer with a C potential 3PS and so i saw a lot of room for me to allow him to grow with trainings. No one that's had him ever did go in and train him up quite like I envisioned, and he's only now starting to put up high quality numbers after a long career of barely playing or just giving solid production.
That said, he does all the things you'd want a starting Center to do (defense, shot blocking, rebounding, score at the basket) and this season in particular, I wish I had him.
Ron Harper Jr. has highlight reel athleticism!
Absolutely NOBODY is surprised that he turned into a perennial MVP candidate.
I thought the Nets might be able to surround him with the right support a couple of the seasons they went in big.
I just imagine his game play as exciting.
After checking my results I like to go and see how Jordan Poole did with the Magic. I really was sad to trade Poole away but it was necessary since I was in so much debt from this past season. I'm happy he is thriving right now and leading the league in assists. He has racked up a few triple doubles too so far which is awesome. I hope he makes the All-Star game this season.
Once upon a time, PG Nicholas Zike was a yellow player for the Cavs. He was a freaking good yellow player but I had no choice and I traded to K100. Never would I imagine he would have become a blue player. I still follow him and miss him so much. Come back to Cleveland PG Zike!

No Lies... herbert Jones. That dude is an absolute freak. Probably one of the most untalked about players in all of SLOE despite being an elite talent that can put up triple doubles any given night. It's insane that he's putting up his best scoring numbers yet in his 11th season (without a massive dip in efficiency). I look back because I was in a position to draft this player years ago and passed. Great job by Pauly in always cultivating an elite talent and building around him.
Dominitrix Johnson. I keep waiting to see if he'll get minutes (he won't) and wondering how he has developed since last season (I won't know - he won't play).
That's the honest truth. I want to see that guy's ceiling. But while he's in sim g league, I guess I've got my eyes on big, big men, as elite ones are hard to find. I haven't been checking in on Charley Quick, but I mean to. Obviously the Wemby / Ware duo is interesting. But I must admit, I like checking in on Kuminga to see if he's hitting all star numbers yet. I think he's a future all star. A career long role player, sure, but I offered him an RFA contract (that was matched) for a reason. Also, for RFA bigs, hai Britney Griner, how YOU doin
Sion James. I look at him mainly because him and PeeWee were drafted 1 and 2 in the 2051 draft. I like comparing their numbers and right now Sion has a ring and this season is statistically having a better season than PeeWee. Sion is a really good play and was the reason they won it all last season. Dude is a beast and can do it all. He can score, rebound, defend, facilitate and lead his team. Sion is one of my favorite players outside of the guys on my team.
I'll be honest, I don't really look at other players like that unless I'm scouting. Sometimes I'll keep tabs on a player who I saw potential in back during their draft, because I want to see if what I saw holds up over time, as well as learn what attributes tend to lead towards success when it comes to player development. I followed Fabian Hub for a while due to that. He was one of the top guys I wanted in that draft despite being a mid/low-tier prospect, and I was pretty bummed that he was picked just before I had the chance to draft him.
When I think of it like that, then I guess Stephen Zuber is the guy I keep tabs on continually. I was quite interested in him as a project, given his size and passing ability, but he was also picked before I could snag him. I'm interested to see if he can fully transform into a legit starting PG in this league.
