Lets not talk about last season at all. It was a planned dump season, and mostly was. We saw appropriate growth from Gates and surprised by Zuber's season, now just like the kid directing trains sayd "ok, lets gooo."
Going into this off season, I was feeling itchy to get back into the thick of things. Draft day we heard that a few big name players were on the block. We considered several of them, then moved forward with the Nets after we had some good positive talks. After hesitation from both Ed and myself, we made the deal happen. I was very cautious with how happy I was after this trade, as I knew TC was going to be good to Supreme Cook. We were still happy with our TC, as all of our young core players had decent TCs and grew.
RFA saw that we were able to bring back Benfield and Griner back at what we consider deals. I really expected Griner to get a max, and for Benfield to get overpaid due to potentials. However, I was able to sign both in the $30mm range which is nice, and having two players for the price of one is nice. UFA went about as expected. We could only offer vet mins, and we did not have a good enough season to really sway anyone of note. So we are glad with what we have.
Going into this season, we hope to be a playoff team. I think Gates and Harper will be a great combo and will be a good one two punch for hopefully several season. I also think I have some good peripheral players in Lucas, Zuber, and Griner. All in all, we feel good about the bean team for the first time since we moved on from Antonio Gates which is nice. Starting 5 will be the 5 you saw in pre-season to start the season. I may make some changes as we go, as we have a few players that can be fluid in position (AG at PF, Harper at SG, etc...)
Sham Smith, Bulls.com: Ron Harper, Jr. is in a contract year and could be owed a massive payday next season. What are your plans to add around him going forward?

In part we need to see if this is a good marriage. Ultimate bad would be no, and I don’t think this will happen, it doesn’t work. In that scenario, we look to dump Harper and try to get something of a prospect to further build around our “younger” guys.
The more likely situation is that Harper gets money from me in the offseason. In that situation, I either get someone before Harper or I have access to MLE and get a quality player that way.
I can also try to trade for a player this season or something else. There are several ways I think I could leverage, based on what the season look like and what other Gms do.
Justin Bieber, Teremana.com: Preseason didn't went well. Record of 2-4. Are you planning to trade and get help, or are you sticking with your current roster? Who will finish with a better record, the Cavs, Grizz, or the Celtics?

Nah, I think this is a situation where preseason was an apparition. I will get into the gameplanning, and hopefully improve upon it.
Hopefully, I have the better record the all of you dopes.

Offensive will be RHJ without a doubt. He is in his peak of his prime as an offensive player, while AG is just entering his prime as an all around player.
Defensively, AG I hope will start to be a defensive stalwart this season and better than Harper.

lol, it’s for sure not JLM. It probably the Pistons or the Nets. It’s always an interesting and hard talks with them and so it’s more enjoyable in a way. Don’t get me wrong, I love the “yeah, I like it. Let’s do it trades” but the bartering is also fun when I have the ability and time to do it.
Random Reporter: What kind of production are you hoping to see from Gates this season, especially given that the expectation of major growth entering his prime is the primary reason for acquiring RHJ to pair with him?

A general bump across the board from offensive numbers side hopefully. And then a staying consistent from a defensive side at least. Idk. Still got some tinkering to do with the results of this first sim to make it work.
