S66 Warriors Presser: Getting Karl Havoc'd

Post by greepleairport »

At the start of 2055, life was great in the Golden State! We ended 2054 at 23-4, had two of our biggest win streaks ever, and two championship trophies in our bag, ready to grab a third. Everyone saw it coming and there was nothing anyone could do about it.

Markus, Fabian and Alphonse were all playing their best basketball ever on the best team ever, and we frolicked through flowery fields together, and then I held on to Fabian one extra beat while Markus and Alphonse skipped ahead and we made sweet, sweet love in the flowery fields during our 1st round bye. The celebration of our 3peat had already begun and tears of joy overflowed.

Then my mentor kicked my ass, respectfully, by 8 points in our lovely Golden State. It was not long before Fabian Hub wreaked Karl Havoc on my heart.

It was the last dance after all, no matter what. And Fabian danced his beautiful 81 QKN 91 STR 6’11” self right off to Detroit without saying goodbye. I’ll always be sad about this.

Always and forever.

But sim life must go on and we replaced our trio of badasses with a couple of bonafide future badasses, Kevin Cross and Kamari Brown. Kamari is an absolute cutie pie and Kevin Cross has def bf potential. I’m perplexed by the sims ‘recommended’ actions essentially benching KC, but as a result we will pull him off the bench in a dual forward role to start the season. We’re clearing the way for Kamari to ‘eat.’ I’m still deciding how to spend some points training either of these beauties.

But while I am figuring that out, I am essentially still figuring out the future of the Dubs. Everyone who made big contributions is gone, and Andreas Gillam and Jean Coss could leave in a matter of time. It is a completely new era, without Fabian Hub, and we could not be more sad and excited at the same time.

Now I will take any and all questions and I will respond to them by talking out of my butt.

Sham Smith, Bulls.com: Despite completely blowing up your team, the Warriors had a strong preseason, even beating some tough competition. What can you apply from this to the regular season?

With the tough loss in the Finals and this offseason, what silver lining do you take from all this moving forward? Do you see some excitement with resetting a bit but still having room to compete?

Max E. Pad, Hustler Magazine: Kamari Brown is the first player in league history to have a doctorate in orthopedics. Is there any concern that he might retire prematurely to practice medicine? Moreover, is there any truth to the rumor that Kamari is training harder to become a power forward to make room in the lineup for other players to get playing time?

You have been the team to beat since I have returned as a GM to Sim League...would you say you learned a recipe for that dominance and expect to repeat this process once again?

Who cares, he'll be gone next year. Okay, seriously, he'll be at SG or SF, starting, next to Kamari.

I'll take as many points as I can get! I think Warley played a big part in that and he's gone now, so we'll be playing a completely different game moving forward. We're playing a totally different brand of basketball now with these players, so we'll see what happens.

Or, it's all preseason nonsense and meaningless and we suck as expected.

It was a tough finals loss and an even tougher offseason in Golden State, but we definitely came out with a few winners in Brown and Cross. I'm really excited to see what they can do for us. Also Gillam played like an absolute boss and if he keeps playing like this? I might have to take him off the block. I love what I'm seeing from him. But yes, it's a lot of fun to reset and get to know an entirely different group of players after learning the last group pretty intimately. A new dawn in Golden State PBSL, let's go baby

I was going to plan to answer Kevin Cross but the simputer recommendation was to bench him...??? So I definitely saw Kamari Brown's quality and ultimately decided to invest a little extra player training in him. I think he's set for an all star year, still very very early in his career. Kamari is a straight baller. I might ask him to marry me if i'm feelin cute

Kamari learned enough in his doctoral program to know that his 6'6" frame is not built to be a PF and thus he will not train to be there. Someone else on the squad, Mr. "PG" Kevin Cross looks much more suited to be a future PF. If he retires prematurely he might as well Fabian Hub his ass on out of San Francisco now instead of later..but I know he won't. He's one of the good ones :)

I think I have learned a recipe, yes, but I have also learned you gotta work hard to find the right ingredients. This entire championship run was built off a super giggly high over making Fabian Hub a 6'11" player with 81 QKN and 91 STR, realizing his shortcomings as awesome as that is, and building a team around him that plugged in his gaps. I think we did a better job than we realized with that, thus winning 2 in a row before we expected to win, but I think we got too happy with big men and lost our vision. Winning sim league has as much to do with skill as it does circumstance, and we had a proven championship caliber team that was beaten by a faster, smaller team. Never saw it coming, so I still have much to learn.
