I know what you're thinking. How many times am I going to get up here and talk about not having a point guard. Well ladies and gentlemen, we have our point guard!!! I would like to welcome Garland to the desert. It's a little different of a team but Anas and Akins remain. I think they are going to love playing with a pass first point guard who doesn't turn the ball over. It will take the pressure off of akins to be the everything guard. We're going to play akins next to Garland and unlike AB from a few seasons ago. Garland is here to help make the most of Akins while not sacrificing his own game.
I want to talk about expectations, we don't have high expectations. I think the idea is that our young superstar in the making Maxwell Lewis will continue to get better and become the face one day. We will hold the rookie out for the year as we acknowledge he is very green. I think with Akins coming into his prime we want to continue to give him the opportunity to play in the playoffs and try and make as much noise as we can. We haven't been able to build a true championship contending team and that falls on me. I have built a playoff roster but not a true contender. I'm going to keep trying to build these guys.
I do wonder if we're in a weird limbo where we haven't been bad enough for long enough to truly build from the ground up. It's been a mixture of drafting and trading for veteran players. Anas is 29 and Garland is 31 and on the last year of his deal. Both will be very good for years to come but is it time to get younger?
The division is weak with our 2x champion warriors rebuilding. Which brings me to my prediction and season goals. The goal is to host a playoff series and for me to finally win a division title. To achieve this we will need to be healthy and we just haven't been in the last few years. If we're healthy I expect us to finish 54-28 and claim our first division title.
In the preseason, Lewis was in the starting lineup. Though he did have some growing pains, it felt like a logical choice for the starting lineup as he could be surrounded by veteran talent. If he gets a redshirt year as you've suggested he might, who fills in the starting 5 around the Big 4?
Sham Smith, Bulls.com: I doubt there's an analyst around who would bet against you to win your division, but if you had to armchair GM another team in your division, is any team out there only one move away from have a shot? If so, which team, and what's the move?

Ahhh when I started the rookie wouldn't play I was referring to Flagg. Lewis is going into his second year so we'll play him and we played him after the trade last year. He will start at the 3

I was extremely worried coming into camp that the blazers would give me some trouble. They didn't protect Hancock after paying him and he took a HUGE hit in TC. The kind of hit that I'm not even sure protecting him would have saved him. That being said, I think the mavericks have 2 young studs who are raw and need some time and effort to be developed. The kind of time and effort the Mavs simply do not have. They need to immediately look to trade both for players. I would look to trade them for a point guard(don't think ones available). They need to surround scoot with talent now or remain in purgatory.
The deal that I would attempt to make is parker and Stewart lead package for herb Jones. Not sure if pacers answer the phone, but I'm making them tell me no.

Chet Youbetcha, Dimmadome News: I’m retrospect, do you regret the AB trade or do you see it as the pathway to this current team?
You've been aggressive and will be $80 million over the cap. Will you be aggressive and add to it or do you feel this cap number is close to the max? Also your defense was very strong in the preseason, but your offense was in the bottom half of the league. What adjustments are you looking at to improve offensively?

Our pace was lower than we usually play at. We wanted the focus to be on meshing with 2 new starters and an entire new general out there at PG. We'll speed up the tempo in the regular season. As for the cap, it's fluid. You're right it is a high number and I think we're going to wait and see how the team performs but we're definitely open to adding talent always.

What will be maxwell's role for your team this season?
We're going to use maxwell as a 3&D. Offensively he will have no pressure on him to create. Just catch and shoot. On defense he'll be asked to defend against the best wings in the league.

Who is the best GM in your division?

I think you have to look at the warriors as the cream of the crop. They are the blueprint, the standard. And one day I hope to hoist hardware like they have.
With Garland expiring and he being 31 yrs old...Is this a 1 year all or nothing? Has the decision to resign Garland happened already or does it depend on how the seasons unfolds?

I'd be lying if I said I haven't thought of next year. Idk what it would cost to keep him. Ultimately this season is going to be interesting. My team lacks depth. Can the starters get it done?

Are more moves in the mix or is this the final product?
I think that is still pending. Are we really good but missing something? Or are we bad and I choose to blow it up and avoid the tax. One of those are the likely result.
