#5- Name a player on a team other than your own who has really impressed you this season, and why?
#6- In the Omega conference, seeds 5-9 are separated by 1 game and #10 is only 2.5 games out from #5 as well. Take one of those teams and explain one move you'd try to make to ensure them a playoff spot. (Pistons, Nets, Hawks, Pelicans, Kings, Spurs)
Not going with a surprise pick here or anything, but I'll be picking DeJuan Baker in Houston. Honestly? His numbers aren't crazy eye-popping, and he's steady from last season to this one. However, he's been hiding in Johnny Davis's shadow for so long that I'm not sure he's ever gotten the credit that he's deserved. He's leading the Rockets in scoring (18.0), assists (8.0, 10th in the league) while having career bests in 3P% and PER. The icing on this cake is of course being the catalyst to an extreme turnaround for the Rockets, doormats in recent years, who have a commanding division lead while Baker's former team is struggling to put anything together.

I mentioned this in another Town Hall, but I think the team that is suited for a big upgrade who has the tools to make it happen are the Atlanta Hawks. They're currently sitting at the 7th seed, but with the standings so fluid, one move to fix their starting 5 could catapult them as high as the 4-seed by the end of the season, in my opinion.
I could give two offers they could/should consider making:
Ibrahima Diallo/Sanford Benfield for Charles Jarrett
Ibrahima Diallo/Raul Zepeda for Darius Garland
Jarrett would give the Hawks another physical player who can score and play multiple positions and allow them to keep their better asset for later.
Garland would likely cost Zepeda, and it would be a smaller lineup with 2 PGs (Daniel Johnson), however Garland is the game's best pure PG and would almost certainly elevate everyone else on the roster.
One team has beaten me twice this season, and it's not because of the injured (just saw that, sorry Suns) AB. AB was average to garbage in these games. Akins, however, dropped 33 pts opposite a 7 footer with B PRD B STL and B Blocks. He also got 7 steals that game. SEVEN. Then, he dropped 22 on Fabian Hub in our next meeting and held my Fabi Baby to 4/12 from the field. Like, dude made me feel like absolute trash in our meetings this season. He's also carrying a higher +/- than AB this year, so, yeah, pretty impressive stuff from that guy I'd say.
6. This is tough, because I would not recommend any of these teams make a move to ensure a playoff spot. I would like to see the Hawks get out of the tax, especially, but I would like to see all of these teams reduce their tax bill if possible.
If anything, it would be cool to see the Kings make a move (they won't), especially now that Quincy is out for another month. I'd be looking to nab Gauss from the Bulls to fill that hole for the time being, and not spending too much to accomplish that goal, either. If not Gauss, any MLE or cheaper player to fill that role, but Gauss seems like an obvious choice to me.
Town Hall #5
Herbert Jones is again the most impressive player in the game. He should be MVP two years running. I figured the Pacers would be in the same position as last year, with only Herbert Jones and not many other premier pieces. But Hebert Jones is soo good he is making 33-year-old Saddiq Bey (who lost -47 points in TC) a better player. How do you lose 47 points in TC and have better numbers than the year before, well have Herbert Jones on your team, and all of a sudden, every shot is wide open or a layup.
Town Hall #6
The team out of the Omega Conference I'd like to see move some people is the Spurs. The Spurs have been accumulating assets since I've been in the league. I think this is my 5th season. At some point, it will be too costly to insure their young talent in the off-season. They already have the central pieces place, Pee Wee Kirkland and Brandon Ingram.
The Spurs need a point guard badly, and they have so many assets they don't need to look for a point guard at the end of their career like Garland. I would be looking to move some combination of Hoyt Timmerman and Fly Williams for Mac McClung. I don't know if Hoyt and Fly are enough to move McClung, but it might be worth throwing in Tony Newland. The Bulls want a ton of assets for McClung, and some variation of these assets should be enough to move McClung to the Spurs. The Bulls would be set up for a rebuild, and the Spurs would have a young lineup that would make the playoffs this year and be Championship contenders in future years.
If McClung doesn't working looking for Jose Alvarado for a similar package might.

- I was about to go into detail on why Safi is great. However, everyone has been all over Safi for years, so who gives a Frey if he is a great PF. Ron Harper Jr. is just balling out. As recent as a few years ago for his RFA it was stated that he was only a good player more or less. Well l think the man has gone above and beyond. RHJ is playing almost 40 mins (which is insane to me), and is 4th in scoring with a top 25 fg%. So, with the nets having to resort to relying on him way more then what they probably expected after having to reset the tax. However RHJ has helped this team move into a prime playoff spot with an insanely low cap number.

Nets again lol. I think if they are serious about keeping Alvarado they need to get another player. Alfredo Mendez is great, and I just talked about RHJ and his ability, but they need someone else. They do not have much prospects due to not having a current first and not a deep bank of young players, they have to use their massive cap space. With $64mm in cap space, there has to be a player out there that a team wants to dump that can positively help the nets. Players like Diallo (I know the hawks have been holding out for something for him), Quincy Johnson with him being injured, or a player like Chris Dunkel. Either one big cap player, or a few smaller ones that will just help teams lower their cap.

I'd pick Mikal Bridges. His usage might go down now that he's on the Pistons, but he's shown he has the capability to be a top 10 scorer in this league. Up until then, I know that his numbers seemed a little underwhelming, but I knew he had the tools. It's just a shame he's back on the Pistons now.

First off, I don't think all these teams should try to get playoff spots. The Nets are in the hole, so they should be focused on getting out of the tax, and the Hawks could soon be joining them, so they should just cut their losses and pay someone to take Diallo. They're not winning yet with this squad and they should not jeopardize their future with Justin Amos and Daniel Johnson still on the rise.
If I were the Spurs, I would make a move now. They're not going to have the cap space before the draft to cash in all the folks they'll need to cash in, and they're going to still have a lot of young guys to insure while being a tax team after Pee Wee resigns. If they could get some moves out of the way this season, they could solidify their lineup around Ingram and be a strong playoff competitor. I like LTS's move, but I doubt I'd send McClung. Alvarado might be the best option to go after, and after friendship trading a point to RPF so he could delay the tax a full season and keep RHJ, Ed owes Carlos.
PG Nicholas Zike from the Pelicans. For those that don't remember, PG Zike was a yellow player for a long time. As he gets older, PG Zike has deomonstrated he can play at a high level. Zike leads the league in assists and there is no question he should be an all-star. It's amazing few seasons ago, he was only a bench player.

I'll pick the Kings. Defense is their weakness and they need a dominate Center. Kings have no depth and they need to get rid of Brian Loos. Loos should not be getting $36 per year. Kings can find 2 Centers for $36 Mil. I would try to trade for Lakers C Evan Mobley. Maybe offer alot of pts or a draft pick, do something to convine the Lakers. The Kings need a big man and C Mobley is the perfect player to help the team.

I'll say Jon Isaac. I questioned the Cavs decision to start him because he is allergic to defense but jlmarines doesnt believe in defense so kudos to him for unleashing this monster on the league. From a nerdy stats side the offensive efficiency is off the charts and Isaac is not even at peak levels yet. I am legit jealous.

Pelicans could use some defense badly. I'd look to move Tony Hinshaw's contract to get some. Either trade with Miami for Northrup and toss in a few points or give Toronto a call and swap for Larry Canfield straight up.

#5 - Gerald Dixson, Miami Heat. I'm really impressed with how he's really embraced the role as a leader on the Heat team this season and become THE GUY. I feel like his entire career teams were waiting for him to become the GUY for the longest time, and gave up on him because he underachieved. But Miami has really brought out some of his best basketball of his career, especially this season, where he's the #12 in PPG this season. If you had asked me if Gerald would've been in the top 25 in PPG this season, I would've said HELLLLLLLLLL No but here he is... sitting at 12. Really impressed with him and how he's helping carry the Heat into a potential playoff berth yet again.
#6 - Pelicans. Easy. Actually set a DC with Hackney in the lineup! If they just do that, this would easily be a no brainer for a playoff team. But these dingdongs in New Orleans should be relegated to G-League for making a trade and forgetting FOR A FULL MONTH to set the key acquisition in the line-up. SMH... Call Kendrick Perkins and tell him to ship New Orleans to Seattle where they belong. That former Seattle Supersonic GM Pedro could do a better job with keeping the ship right. But, according to sources close to the organization, the Pelicans have SUPPOSEDLY locked in for the rest of the season. But you know the ESPN Talking Heads won't stop yappin until this team does something on the court. But I think, if my sources are accurate, they may be on the right path.

I think zike at age 28 being able to come into essentially his prime at the age of 28th is insane coming from the pistons and going to a pelicans team that has some weapons and being able to still elevate his scoring but also elevated cyst 13 assists through. I mean we're into the new year of our new calendar year of our new season, so being able to elevate scoring and assist on the team that's competitive and is decently good. They shouldn't. The pelican should make the playoffs. I think that's impressive, so it's like it's definitely my most impressive player on another team.

This is easy for me. I think the Hawks should package diallo with one of their young blue potential players and maybe a first round pick for Harold Schiff from the from the pistons and I think the Hawks should go for it. They're in striking distance like the question suggested. They're in the thick of things. One game under .500 or half game. I think under .500 I think they should strike while they have the opportunity. The diallo contractor obviously looks bad now. You're going to have to package him with a prospect to get anyone in good, especially to make the money work for schiff but a young player and potentially a future first I think gets him schiff, and I think it gets him into the playoffs and probably even a first round win or at least an opportunity for the first round win. The omega conference is just not deep. It's top heavy then it's just a bunch of random teams and as we saw the playoffs last year you're just never know
