Miami Smoldering

Post by Mike Lowry »

Have to say:
This shit is hard to predict!

I used to watch some of what Greeple was involved in back in the day and think it made sense in a very linear way. Simple approach would net talent and develop a champion. But it's a gang of nuance that has huge impact.

I did absolutely intend to head for tax jail in order to make a run at what I thought would be title contention. I realized at least 2 seasons ago that I would fall short of that, and I tried to dump contracts. And I guess I might be a dick of a trade dealer, cause I couldn't dump some pretty productive players to save my life. Shit was like a runaway train headed straight for solitary confinement.

So here I am knee deep in taxes without a pot to piss in.

But Wait... There's more.
Considering my horrible display in the playoffs, I think I may be much happier with the way this season goes than last. I mean, the expectations are obviously lowered significantly, but I faired decently in free agency. I landed just enough old support to help a few guys who might have a thing or 2 to say between the lines.

Most might be shocked to hear this, but we're aiming for a winning season. And we want the playoffs. And we aren't afraid to scrap those plans in a heartbeat if the right offer comes in for Northrup.

So again, what looks like a simple straightforward plan, can twist and turn at any moment. The flames ain't out in Miami though.

Starting Lineup:

C: John Reyna
PF: James Northrup
SF: Emoni Bates
SG: Gerald Dixson
PG: Hassan Hodges

Sham Smith, Bulls.com: What kind of plans have you thought about in terms of paying back the tax you owe so you can make offers to free agents and keep your players again, and what's your goal in terms of timeline to pay it off?

Hoping to pay in 3 or 4 seasons.
Doesn't look like people use clearing houses to dump salary anymore, but if they need to, I'm available.
I will also be trading rookies for points in the interim.
Most importantly though, I gotta lean on this keyboard.
Put up some articles, learn how to make memes, all the slimey details.

Photopea dot com is your meme friend. It’s free photoshop basically.

Last season got exciting in Miami, finally, but again it fizzled. Once you pull out of the tax, what would you do differently building up your next contender?
Somehow I manage.

The old quotes are true, right?
Gotta get a bank roll before you go to war.
So I won't go all in like that again until I have the right amount of assets to have a more complete team.
I'll be trading for top young talent for a long time.
