S65 Spurs Presser

Post by Eazy P »

Welcome to the San Antonio Spurs preseason presser. As everyone knows the Spurs were once again lottery contenders at the end of last season. There were some bright moment with the continue improvements of Pee Wee Kirkland and of course Brandon Ingram. The season didn't go as planned but we know that it can get better. Coming into this season we knew we needed to add a proven big man to our team. We went after every available big and signed The Dr James Andrews. Although his TC didn't go too well he helped the younger guys in getting better. He has won a ton of games as a Net and we know he's going to bring that winner's mentality here to our team. We tried to make some move before TC but they didn't pan out unfortunately. Once training camp ended and we saw the improvements we had to think about what's best for the team long term. The best thing for us is just to be patient with everything. Looking at everything from all angles. We want to build a consistent sustainable winning product for the fans to enjoy. I am so happy with the results of TC and how Master P is developing as a player. His future is bright. We are hoping at the moment the can make the playoffs in the final slot. I think we have what it takes to achieve that goal. I just have to put these guys in the right position to do so. It would be great if we can be in the playoff hunt this season and exciting for the fans.

With that said the floor is open for questions and like always I will try my best to each answer to the best of my ability.

Sham Smith, Bulls.com: How do you feel about your new division and conference as compared to your old ones? Does the division reshuffle do anything to change your future plans for the team?

I like the change of pace when it comes to the reshuffle aspect of the league. It keeps thing interesting. Whereas in the past if you were in the same division/conference for 20+ seasons you kinda know GMs tendencies. Whether they are inactive or their time at the top is coming to an end you can kinda plan your run as a team around it. With the reshuffle you can't really do that because you can go from being in a bad division you thought you were going to win the following year to being in a gauntlet. For me I try no matter what to be patient with everything and then when I feel the time is right go all in. I try to build a team, if possible that no matter the situation will compete with any team whether good or great. Hope i was able to answer your question for you.

Who on your team do you think has the best odds of surprising the league?

Chet Youbetcha, Dimmadome News: There is no mention of Fly Williams. Tell me, what is the price for such a player to become a Celtic?

That's a good question. I think Hoyt will be that person. He's kind of a passive person on the court but I think this season we will see improvement. He also really can't show what he can do with guys like Ingram and Pee Wee being focal points. With the addition of The Dr, who also loves to take shots, we may not see an aggressive Hoyt on offense but defensively I thing he will surprise a lot of people.

Fly is most likely going to be a red shirt guy this season or if the right offer comes along I may move him but I am not actively shopping him. I'll entertain offers tho.
