Utah Jazz Press Conference

Hello everyone. Looking back on last season we did do as well as planned. We thought we would be able to make the playoffs but failed short. We were able to start in the right direction with a winning season. We went into the offseaon with a plan to make a contender this season. We had a lot of cap space to try to make it happen.

We first had the a tough decision to make with Theo Ratliff. We really felt he was going to be the Big man we wanted next to Duncan. We debated almost until the deadline on matching an offer he received. We came the the decision the price was just too high to retain him.

This it was time for FA. After letting Ratliff go we had to find a replacement. So we went after Mr. Dale Davis. We really like what he brings to the team. He will help in rebound and post d. Perfect compliment to Mr. Duncan. After first few days of FA we saw players slipping away. So we looked around for trade to complete our team. This is when we decided to make a trade to bring an elite player in to help hopefully bring us deep into the playoffs, Mr. Steve Smith. We feel he will be a nice fit to our team. We also received Mr. Bimbo Coles in the trade who we feel will be another solid addition to our team. Well it is time to get back to work and start working for the upcoming season. Floor is open for questions.

Steve Smith is 30 and an expiring. Is it safe to say that you expect results quickly, or are you planning to stick with this group for the next few seasons, even if growing pains occur?

We are looking forward to quick results but other factors will play into what happens going forward.

Woody Paige, Denver Post: Which potential playoff teams in the west do you think provide your best/worst matchups?
6 Rings. That's it. That's the tweet.

Are you ready to compete for championship? Team wise and mentally?
I still got all my fingers but somewhere I lost my mind.

Sports Guy Bill Simmons here, can you talk a little about expectations? Mr. Uter has chosen you in the preseason rankings to be the best team in the league. Do you pay attention to these rankings does it put any extra pressure on you or your squad?

Loves, Kings, Lakers look like they will be tough this year. Warriors may be the one team i would like to play if I had to choose. But none of this matter unless my team perform well together from the start.

I think we have the talent to compete. The question is will my young core and new veteran players be able to mesh well enough this year to make it happen. WE thing they will but time will tell on this matter.

This is very tough question. MJ was great and so is Steve Smith. As of now I put all three in same category, but after a few more years of developing I think Duncan will be the best player we have ever had in UTAH!

We expecting to compete for the 4th seed in the west. We do not listen to Mr. Uter to much, it is nice to ranked in that spot. Time to go put some work in to try and make it happen.
