S64 42PHD Coach of the Year Nominations (due Friday, 7/17 @ 4pm CST)

Post by AngryBanana »

This will differ from GM of the Year. GM will focus on the moves made throughout the season. Coach will focus on how the team performed compared to how they should have (showing that the person gameplanned well and was able to get the most out of his team).

Anybody who submits a nomination can claim 1 point (excluding self-nominations)

Max is 1 point, even if you submit nominations in other categories

Winning nomination gets an additional point like last season

Submit your nominations by Friday, April 14 @ 8:00pm CST

RoboGM1 from the Blazers is my nominee for this. The Blazers are up 3-1 and exceeded expectations this season in my opinion so this nomination is easy.

I'm going to have to go with K-100 for coach of the year. When you're in tax jail, there's not much you can do to compete in sim league, but with nothing but mins and cap space (and surely some inventive depth charts), the Grizzlies improved from a 23 win team to a 42 win team that secured themselves a playoff berth. He did this with seemingly no good players in the backcourt and his best player being 100 year old Genaro Montoya making a billion dollars a year. Other teams might have shocked their way to higher win totals, but none with such a handcuffed roster as this.

@IamQuailman is the guy.

@IanQuailman lost his most important acquisition of the year, Harold Schiff, for more than half the season. A team not exactly built on depth, Schiff went down at the end of the 3rd quarter in a relatively inconsequential game against the Hawks, who were perfectly mirroring a record of 13-26 to the Pistons 26-13, and he still won player of the game. An absolutely devastating loss, Doug assessed as he always does, tested the market, and stayed the course with Schiff's broken leg and all. Doug nearly doubled his wins on the season after this, without his best player.

A team missing their best player for more than half the season should not be sitting at the 3 seed. Props to Doug planning a way to keep his team alive until Schiff's return in the playoffs.
Somehow I manage.

Look, most folks didn't seem to be a fan of the mid-season deal to bring in Loos/Jackson and expected the Raps to continue their mediocre stretch. However, after that deal the Raptors started playing really good basketball, going 24-15 from Feb 1 onward. Then his coaching decisions and gameplanning pushed the Pistons to the brink, forcing a game 7. All said, it was a nice season to learn from and use as a springboard.

@jlmarines

@jlmarines deserves Coach of the Year because he finds new ways every sim to lose game after game despite having more blues than half of the league. I find that impressive.

You should too.

Vote @jlmarines for Coach of the Year.
