Season 64 - Town Hall #6

Which player on your team has been the biggest disappointment? What did you expect out of them that you did not get?

Jeffery Holt.

Look, he's available, okay? Anyone needing a guy who can pass the ball and dribble at least 50% of the time successfully? He's all yours.

I sent Albert Myers away for 10pts thinking this guy would be a serviceable, outwardly less desirable replacement for a guy i would only play for 10mpg anyway. So, I ran with him for several sims and he was so clearly and consistently the worst player on my team. I signed a y/y bum who instantly put up better minutes than this bum Holt.

People have seemed to like Holt in FA, and I hope they still do, for Holt's sake. But as far as i'm concerned he can get <expletive deleted>.
Somehow I manage.

Kai Jones

Mostly because I drank the Kool Aid and thought he might have been in the conversation for most dominant player in the league when I traded for him. I imagined this whole process of surrounding him with talent and going to tax hell with the team on his shoulders, but Emoni Bates and Gerald Dixson have proven far more valuable assets.

Damien Bailey because he's hurt for 2 sims. Otherwise, I'd be being really nitpicky to hate on this group of guys. Certain star guys aren't performing up to their normal standards but that's because they all have to share the ball. Pearson scoring 13? Mobley and Alleman scoring 17? Looks like down seasons or disappointing but on top of sharing the ball they're all playing, at most, 30 minutes per game due to blowouts.

So, yeah, just Bailey's injury is disappointing (so far).

As much as I don't want to hurt his trade value, I'm going to be honest here and say Charles Jarrett. It's no surprise because he's on my block, but I was hoping his numbers would be closer to the numbers he racked up with Denver. He's still really good and does a lot of the intangibles, but I think he's best suited for a team that isn't completely packed. Since he can score, rebound, play defense, handle and move the ball some, and is super athletic, he can do pretty much anything you ask of him (his only sub 50 ratings are in FTS and BLK). However, if your team is absolutely jacked, and you've got guys who are elite in rebounding or scoring or just generally all the other areas, Jarrett doesn't really have a role he needs to fill.

It is tough for me to criticize a team stuck in tax jail but Jerry Bryant's sophomore slump would be the Grizzlies' biggest disappointment this year. I thought sliding him down to primarily SF on the 2nd team would give him room to carry the offense but his 3PT shooting has been downright awful all season. I think he still has promise given his other shooting chops, but he just has not yet made that leap to be a steady reserve scorer. Maybe a change of scenery will do him some good?

Kyle Kuric

I also hate to hurt his trade value, but its got to be Kuric. I planned to rent him for a year and use him to try and make the playoffs this season. With my young core starting to come online, I thought he would make my team competitive this season. I knew he wasn't part of my long-term build, but I thought he'd be fun to run out there and win some games now! If he didn't fit, I thought I could move him for a good young player. I knew he was overpaid but didn't see much available in free agency, so I went for the known quantity. With the addition of Kuric, my team just had too many guards, no defense on PF or C, no rebounding, and no shot-blocking. Worse still, little did I know that everyone would be looking for bigs and already had their point guard situations figured out. Kuric does not work on a team full of guards and no bigs.

I don't have any players that have been a disappointment based on roles coming into the season. I guess I can try and twist the question a bit and still answer. My rephrased way of this question would be disappointments on free agency resigning. I would say David Lomas. There's no doubt that he could probably still score for a team, but similarly to his last run with the Lakers. The quality of player ahead of him is just too much. He took a hit in TC and I think that was a deterrent on me playing him any significant minutes.hes scoring 7 points in 14 minutes right now which definitely suggests if he were able to get more minutes he would be fine. SG is just loaded for me so outside of blowouts. It's hard to get Lomas on the floor, but the expectation isn't high so he's not a disappointment

E.J. Liddell

I cannot get too upset because training camp did E.J. dirty but the time to move on from him was now. I traded him to the Celtics because I just did not think he was a good complement to Kevon Looney's skillset. I was hoping he would join the ranks of the elite offensive big men and he still might but I came to realize that Toronto's current build was not the best fit. I'm sad to see him go but I know the Boston Celtics have the tools in place to develop him properly. I'll still root for him up here except when he faces us.

Mikal Bridges

I traded for this guy after my championship, hoping he would become a two way forward that could play with AB. That didn’t happen. He was hit in TC right after his max contract, going from an almost purple player to a middling blue player. He responded as such in his campaign last season.

Bridges then gets a boost in this TC, getting his potentials mostly back. However, there is zero consistency from him right now. When I view box scores after a sim, I’ll see one game where he is POTG, but three or four where he disappears. Maybe another good tc will finally allow him to be the player I always hoped for.

There isn't a player I am disappointed in on my team. Reason being my team is still young and are learning to win. They maybe currently lacking in the defensive department but that comes with having young guys. I am also still trying to figure out what role and position best suits them. The players that I have expected to play great are doing their part (Ingram, PeeWee and Kozak). Everyone else on my team is still growing and will eventually get to a point to where I expect more from them. If there's anything to be disappointed in, that would be me not figuring out a DC to win games.

Lauri Markkanen. I’m just really disappointed his body isn’t holding up. It’s only his second year, he’s young, he’ll bounce back. But losing him for an extended period of time is a bit disappointing to me. I’m also not disappointed but surprised that Zike is not averaging more assists than he is with all the firepower in the starting lineup. Sigh

I'm kinda disappointed on Tony Tindall. He's not playing horrible but he's only averaging 13pts per game. I expected a lot from him. I figure most teams will focus on Raphael Gordon, that will leave SG Tindall open. I was hoping at least 17pts per game. The season is kinda early, still hoping SG Tindall can score more points.
