Ladies and gentlemen welcome to the S64 Memphis Grizzlies presser.
Last season was undeniably a tough one for our team. However, we have made significant progress in tackling our tax bill, and we are committed to addressing this issue head-on. I am pleased to announce that we have successfully paid off the S61 tax bill, and we are actively working towards resolving the S62 bill. We remain confident that we will overcome this obstacle as well in short order.
In addition to our financial progress, we are thrilled to welcome some new faces to the Grizzlies. First and foremost, we extend a warm welcome to KC Ndefo, the talented player drafted at #5 in this year's draft. Not only does Ndefo bring exceptional skills to the court, but he is also a local kid from Nashville, making his addition to the team even more special.
Furthermore, we are excited to introduce our free-agent acquisitions, Genaro Montoya and Larry Canfield. Both Montoya and Canfield are proven winners who bring a wealth of experience and leadership to our young squad. Their presence will undoubtedly provide much-needed guidance and mentorship to our developing players.
As we look ahead to the season, we want to emphasize that our trade block is wide open. We are open to exploring various trade opportunities that can strengthen our team and set us on a path to success. Interested teams, please send your offers, and we will carefully consider all possibilities.
While we anticipate another long and challenging season, we are excited about the opportunity to play spoiler for those teams on the fringes, hoping to secure a playoff spot. We will bring our best effort every night as we embark on this new season. Rest assured we will overcome the challenges ahead and continue building toward a better future.
Projected Starting Lineup
PG Russel Coffelt
SG Douglas Haun
SF Genaro Montoya
PF David Brown
C Larry Canfield
6th Jerry Bryant
Montoya may not be the player he once was, but it seems he has enough left in the tank to give you quality production. What are your expectations for him this season? Maybe product his final statline and/or any season awards.
Justin Bieber; Teremana.com: You finished the preseason with a 2-4 record. Are you planning to change your starting line up? Fans are upset Maximino Morales is not the starting PG. Any comments.
Sham Smith, Bulls.com: With a backcourt full of orange/orange guys, what kind of lessons can yu take away from giving them a chance to play significant minutes?

I think Montoya will definitely be able to pad his stats while in Memphis. The gameplan will revolve around him and from an individual side he will be given every opportunity to succeed. The goal is to get him an All-Star nod at the very least and hope if the Grizzlies stay competitive enough he can steal an All-League 3rd spot too. That being said, if any GM out there is aggressive enough to try and acquire him, please dont hesitate to reach out. I'll miss having him around but he should be enjoying the twilight of his career on a contender, not wasting away on a team stuck in tax jail.

Will KC Ndefo get some playing time this season or will this be a red shirt season?
Redshirt. Expecting Ndefo to crack the starting lineup as early as next season. This season he will learn all he can from Larry Canfield and Genaro Montoya about playing in the paint.

The morale of the fans is of max importance. But the lineup will only change when a change is warranted.

How do you motivate yourself to stay active while you continue tackling this tax bill?
Good question - I try to motivate myself by staying active in other ways other than running the team itself. Right now I like to stay engaged with the league by running Sim Pick'em. Folks seem to enjoy playing so I want to keep it around not only so I can continue to pay off this bill but because others seem to like the randomness of it all too.

I tried to collect o/o guys who are above-average in something particular (Morales was a B-level facilitator while Hong was a B-level perimeter defender). I'd like to try and see how they would fare against legitimate starters so that when the team is competitive again I can look at that kind of niche player again and at least have some inkling as to how they would fare if I needed a spot start in a crucial game. It is all about experimentation right now.

Will Montoya win all by himself or will the supporting cast be a concern this season?
The supporting cast will always be a concern, particularly in the backcourt. But I think Montoya has a trick or two still up his sleeve to win some games this season solo.
