Pistons Pre-Season Presser

Post by IamQuailman »

Off-season wrapping up and the regular season is upon us. Meanwhile in Detroit we hit the lotto... literally! Thanks to the Bobcraps doing their thing, we managed to secure the #3 & #7 picks in the draft and look to have really secured a bright future to build on. With the #3 pick we took Paolo Banchero, who gives us yet again another dynamic, athletic wing scorer. We opted to trade back from #7 to #9 and picked up a future pick from the Suns while still getting the guy we really liked at #7. And Somehow still had Frankie Chavez fall to us at #13! The draft really player out well.

As for Free Agency, we weren't huge players in it. We tried to lure in some young vets, but honestly, it may be too soon for this squad. We did manage to bring back Mason Dixon, who can be our vet leader down low and help anchor this team. We also brought back Ruben Rager. And made some nice additions of Alan Evers and John Lampley. It's another rebuilding year for us, but we want to see what we have in our young guys moving forward.

Ask away!

Sham Smith, Bulls.com: Being that your questions for other teams were mostly Pistons-trade-block-centric and the Pistons are going to be so bad this year that nobody gives a shit, what do you think have been the best moves not related to your team that a team from each division has made?

Thanks for the great question. I had to look at the index to see what teams were in each division.

In the Juicy division, I love the haul the Jazz got for Dixson.

In the Fox division, I liked Jericho Sims going to the Packers.

In your division, I liked you getting Ayo back because you knew you’d be able to rig TC to make him purple.

And in my division, I liked the Warriors signing Ridenhour. Once they make some adjustments, they can be good for a few seasons

Sham Smith, Bulls.com: Sham here again. I feel bad that you didn't get a lot of questions, because I know you want to put in the effort to answer them. If someone wanted Banchero, do you think it would be a good idea for you to take a couple of lesser rookie contract blue potentials for him? Why or why not? Are there situations where it's advantageous to trade a top notch rookie contract player for a few lesser rookie contract players? What are they? And what are the situations the other way?

I'm not satisfied with the lack of detail on the answers to my questions.
