Celtics Championship Congregation

Post by AngryBanana »

Good Morning everyone.

First I would like to take this time to not only would I like to take this time to thank you all for the congratulatory messages, but I would also like to bring something back that hasn't been around for a while. I know it's a little sloppy, but it was my first championship after all and got tired of meshing colors and what not after about 30 mins.

Let me introduce to you the newest addition to the TD Garden

Anywhoosle. The season last year went outstanding to say the lease. I went all in and we did it. The Bulls were really a hard challenge, where Montoya may still be the best player in the league and was a very big headache. I think AB and Folse both had arguments for MVP as well, but beggars cant be choosers when we win it all.

Going into this season I had two options, either keep the championship core intact, or try to get some value for some of these players. I clearly decided the second option. My hope was both to sell high to get a younger crop of players, and stay out of the tax for this season to reset after an expensive season last season. The only reason I also chose the second one was because I was able to move all of my players I wanted to. If I was only able to move two of the three I probably would have not done any of the deals. So out went Folse, Cunningham, and Deing. I appreciate what they did for this team and will forever be grateful for having them as a Celtic.

Out with the old, in with the new...

Now we have Angelo Romero, Chief Kickingstallionsims, and Quincy Johnson. I am excited to have those three. I have always been a fan of the first two, and have almost traded for Angelo at least on two other occasions. The focus this season will be to beat up people on the offensive side and in the paint, where I am hoping to get AB the MVP he deserves while his Athletics are absurd.

I also got lucky with my few FA signings I was able to secure, namely getting Robert Sandoval. All in all this was a decent offseason. UFA and training was pretty quiet I feel like outside of that too, where not much change has occurred.

The only player I am super attached to on this team is Chief K and AB. I could move Angelo for a wing player of equal quality or younger that is still growing. I would also move Sandoval or Quincy as well for a complementary player to AB and Chief K. The key moving forward is always setting AB up with the best supporting cast possible.

This has gone on long enough for the Champ and I look forward to your questions.

Congratulations on your first championship! You put together a solid team after many seasons of hard work. After selling off your top players, you’re still a top team! What are your goals this year now that you’ve gotten one key player this season and a number of solid supports to your core of Chief and Blakeney?

Sham Smith, Bulls.com: Congrats on winning your first championship in a rough and tumble 7 game series!

That aside, how do you justify your Quincy Johnson trade for the Trailblazers, who give up a win now prospect on a rookie contract heading into RFA for an expiring Ousmane Dieng, the type of player who is risky in UFA because he isn't worth a max, now on a team that has no interest in competing this season?

Biggest goal is to get under the tax cap. With ABs pending contract negotiations, we needed to get out the tax for the next round of bills. We are over right now but I think we’re on track for that and can get under with just a few moves.

My second, and now primary goal, is to attempt to get AB his MVP.

The third goal is probably maybe moving Sandoval with another player to shake things up more. It really depends on my involvement and how it goes a few sims in.

First, Deing is a great player. A fabulous player. And we wish him nothing but the best. I hope he finds prosperity with the blazers.

Regarding the trade. First off it was Deing and Hackney (who is also RFA protected), so two blue players for one. It was a deal that was thrown out, in a point in the season, where my assumption was that the receiving team would have had more growth by this point (either through trades or development) that would have seen his team in a better situation than it currently is.

The ideal player would be a wing player that can play good defense. I like the build I have now as the players I got in the offseason are two at level or better versions of the players I had previously. So, while I’d like to maybe change Angelo for a SF type player (and have him and other assets I’m willing to throw at it to get that player) I’m not going to rush anything.

Fair deal...I did not notice that Hackney was part of the deal (and in an RFA year). I declare this deal...CLEAN AND DRY

Justin Bieber, teremana.com:

Congrats Champ. After 28 long years, you finally did it. It sure gives hope to younger GMs.

Based on your preseason results, it appears your weakness is at the PG position. PG Hatfield is a solid contributor. However, after Hatfield you have no depth. Do you have any concerns at the PG position or are you staying with Hatfield for the entire year?

Actually. Pg isn’t really a big problem on my list. For me the biggest problem is going to be the fouls this team racks up AND the perimeter defense. I think we are going to have to rely on scoring and hoping we don’t foul too much.

I feel fantastic to give the great fans of Boston a championship. This is why we moved here from OKC. The fans and this market have a huge hand in the ability to bring in players like Folse to compete, instead of relying on hitting the lotto and trades as an only means to get better.
