Mavs - Pre-Season Press Conference (S60)

Post by LazyTitanSmash »

Like winter, the Mavs are coming (but not anytime soon).

I love this league. The amount of energy I've been getting from most of the GMs in this league has been tremendous.

Plenty of offers came in for Martin and GG Jackson. The Mavs entertained multiple offers for my only two good players, but none of the proposals would net potential high-level talent. So we will be building around GG Jackson and Martin. Jackson and Martin brought heart to training camp and beat up on the rest of the team. (They know how to throw them bows). The rest of the team is now intimidated and lacks confidence. The Mavs have a two-man show. The rest of the team is being issued a challenge. If they want to stay on the team, they better show out because we only plan on bringing back a few next year. Outside of Martin and GG, the other young talent will have to prove they have what it takes to play in the NBA.

In Free Agency, we missed out on all the top-notch talent. We missed hard. Pulling free agents was difficult because they wanted to win a title this year. Multiple players rejected higher offers to sign for less on other teams. Some teams have loyal players. Looking at you, Wizards. I also offered a max contract to multiple players that signed with the Grizzlies. Grizzlies players are looking to win now and didn't want to be a part of building from the ground up.

Two of the free agents rejected contracts in free agency and are now out of the NBA, and sitting on the free agency list. I refuse to offer them a one-year min deal. Some other GM can have them. Maybe next year, bubble players will take the contract they are offered out of fear of becoming the next Jason Trawick.

We (the Mavs) also realize we over-asked and missed out on being part of the Lakers-Heat trade. Shout out to the Lakers for offering fair trades. Next time we'll take it.

The league has overpriced point guards. The Mavs are taking a different approach. We are done with point guards. We are going big. We are bringing back old-school basketball.

We are testing the idea that playing time this year will hopefully positively affect training camp next year. We are giving all the playing time to the rookies.

Any Questions? Ask away.

Chet Youbetcha, Dimmadome News: with it being your first season, you mention a few things you learned moving forward.

Do you see Clarence Martin as your pg given your current stance?

You mentioned how many offers you sent out for players, either in free agency or trade, but who is the one player you most regret missing out on? And what is it about that player that made you fall in love with them?

Considering you missed your free agents this year, what’s your plan? Tank for a high pick? Take on other teams’ contracts? Fight for the title anyway?

Welcome to the league LazyTitanSmash. So glad to have you here! Love the energy you’re bringing in too. Good luck man

Sham Smith, Bulls.com: As a new GM, what about PBSL appealed to you enough to join?

Welcome to the league! Don't listen to the slander about the Milwaukee GM IamQuailman. He's a good dude. He talks in 3rd person too.

Coming in halfway through the off-season, are you planning to just ride out this season and get a feel for the league rhythm or do you plan to try and make a trade with the Bucks?

Welcome to the league! Absolutely believe the Milwaukee slander.

What kind of build would be your ideal team? (E.g. twin towers, tons of shooters, etc)
6 Rings. That's it. That's the tweet.

That's the plan. We going to turn Martin into a point guard.

Ideally, thinks Suns with Steve Nash. Run and Gun, no bigs, crazy 3 point shooting. But I plan on playing the hand I'm dealt and utilize the talent available.

I plan on playing the rookies to see what happens. Not planning on tanking on purpose, but it looks like we will be at the top of next year's draft. Trades are always welcome; really just looking for bad contracts paired with a pick for anybody besides Martin or GG.

I was in love with Safi when looking at the Potential Free Agents list because of his training camp improvements and his age. Thought he might have another good TC, and he did!!! But after learning that the Laker could super max him, I turned my attention to Chief Kickingstallionsims. The name, age, and potential. He had solid numbers on offense and defense, and his ability made him look like he had room to grow. Not a star but a good building block. Since I had tons of extra cash, I threw the house at him only to see him resign with the Grizzlies.

I wanted to join the league because I got sick of dominating the AI GMs on NBA 2k (2018), and I don't think I'll be able to dominate real people like I did the AIs; I'll have to earn my wins in this league.

I also really like the league's forum (role-playing) aspect way more than I thought I would.
