Good afternoon everyone I like to welcome you guys to the San Antonio Spurs Preseason Presser. First off I would like to congratulate the Clippers on winning the title. Last season for us didn't go the way we wanted it to go. Our expectations were to at least make it to the conference finals going into the season. We drank all of the Kool Aid and got bounced out of round one by the Lakers 4-2 after having a 2-0 lead. The team and players were a bit disappointed in their performance and I hope they learned from getting comfortable with that 2-0 and losing the series. We had a good season and they were happy about the 60 wins but they wanted to be more than just another 60 win team. Now that last season is over and behind us we are focusing on this upcoming season and trying to better than last season.

Our first and main goal of this season is to make sure our pick the champs have isn't lotto. We are going to do everything possible to make sure that pick isn't in the lotto convo. After that we are going to try and do better than what we did to end last season. Hopefully everyone stays healthy and Mamba doesn't send a hit out on any of my players during this season. I kind like the makeup of the team. Bringing in some new pieces like Jackson, Radd and bringing back a familiar face in Fortunato might help us be a little better. Don't know how I got him on a vet min but I'll take it lol. Curious to see how Yan, Lewis and Bonnet will look this season with bigger roles. Paugh I think will be great this season also. Hopefully this season is a successful one. I know It will be tough in the blood bath Alpha conference.

If anyone have questions please ask and I'll try to answer them as best as I can. Thank you again for joining us today.

The Pacers lost John Stoll and you managed to snag Christopher Fortunato from them. The Lakers traded away Jerry West and look to be rebuilding around Delmar Lopez. Who do you see as the toughest competition to win the all important Division title in Johnson?

Robert Bonnett surprisingly signed only a 2 year offer sheet from the Wizards that you matched immediately. Did you see the market differently for him or do you like the flexibility of not being anchored to 3 long-term RFA contracts moving forward with Jon Lewis and Dan Yandell already on the books?

I still think the Pacers will be a tough team. Fox can carry that team cause he's that good. I don't know how he allowed Stoll to leave tho. He would have been top priority to bring back. The nuggets are another team that will be tough also. What he did last year with that team was great and the team he has now is better than last year's. The Wizards will be tough too Xist is always in the hunt. Hopefully I can get another division title but it won't be easy.

I would have loved to have signed him to a 4 year deal but not at a high price range. This 2 year deal is flexible with that team option. Not having my 1st this season and Unloading Grayson's contract made it easier for me to match Bonnet's offer.

You have a lot of the same players back this year who already made a solid run in the very tough Johnson division last season...so what's different this year? Heightened experience, acquiring JJJ? Is this the year the Spurs get the title or are you another season's-worth of experience away yet?

With my cap space tied into My RFAs I had to try and bring back some guys I had on my team this past season. Trading Grayson helped. Grayson is a great player scoring and rebounding. I felt like there wasn't enough touches for him to maximize him as a scorer. Acquiring JJJ helps bring in a rebounder and defensive oriented guy. I am hoping he helps improve our team defense overall. Also getting Radd in that Grayson trade helps sure up the bench at the guard position. As far as this being the year the spurs get the title I really don't know. Getting the division is going to be tough. I hope this team can get ring for the city of San Antonio but I can't guarantee it ATM.

Which player could you least afford a major injury to due to lack of depth behind him?

Can't answer that question right now. We don't want to give out that info. There's a lot of Tanya Harding's out there. We will have around the clock protection for our guys. If they are at church, the club, dinner, concerts or any place outside of the facility we will have security. We informed players of the threat of intentional bodily harm that may occur during the season. So we are going to try and prevent that as best as we can.

Do you see yourself fully taking on the Johnson, or will it be too much to handle?

Johnson division will be tough. No cake walk. The GMs in this division are great and I just don't see them giving the division away.

Yandell looks to be taking his first steps into being in the consideration of one of the top PGs in the league. Do you see him challenging for the All NBA team this season?

Hopefully but with Fox and Ironside still in the league It will be hard to make that team at the PG position.
